UNLAWFULLY AT LARGE
On May 8th, 2003 the Sault Ste. Marie Police Service received a telephone call from staff at the District Jail complaining that Bradley Thomas Robinson, age 37 of 742 Lennox Avenue had failed to check back into the jail at 7:00 pm on May 8.
He had left the District Jail at 6:00 am on May 5. A description of Bradley Thomas Robinson was given to the Police and efforts to locate him were unsuccessful. A warrant was issued for his arrest.
Yesterday, City Police went to a residence in the 300 block of Queen Street East and spoke to a male who identified himself as Bradley Robinson.
A police records check confirmed the male was wanted on an outstanding warrant and at 2:27 pm, police officers arrested the accused and transported him to the station. He was charged with Unlawfully being at Large and Breach of Probation. He will appear in bail court today.
SHE PUNCHED A TELLER
At noon hour yesterday a 46-year-old female became upset in a downtown bank when she was waiting in line to do her banking. The female came out of line and spoke to a staff member of the bank who advised her that she would have to wait her turn in line.
The female returned to her place in the line but became angrier. She moved up the line, passing other people and rushed up to the counter and struck the bank staff member with a punch to the face. The victim was not seriously injured. The female then returned to her place in line.
Patrol officers were called to the scene of the assault and arrested the 46-year-old female. Investigation revealed that the accused was emotional disturbed and she was transported to the hospital for treatment. No charges have been laid at this time.
MAN ASSAULTS WOMAN
On Sunday, following a domestic disagreement, a 23-year-old male assaulted a 21-year-old female at a residence in the downtown area. The accused choked and spit in the face of the victim.
Police were advised of the assault at 9:50 am yesterday and at 7:37 pm, officers arrested the male at a different residence in the downtown area. The accused has been charged with Assault and Breach of Probation. He will appear in court on July 14th.
YOUTH ARRESTED FOR AGGRAVATED ASSAULT
On May 17th at approximately 6:00 pm two 15-year-old males were going to the movies at Station Mall.
Outside the theatre the youths were verbally challenged by a 17-year-old male to fight and they refused. After purchasing their movie tickets the 15-year-olds went outside the mall to wait for their show.
The accused, a 17-year-old male also went outside and again taunted the males and challenged them to a fight. When one of the 15- year-olds turned around and asked the 17-year-old to leave them alone, he was assaulted.
The 15-year-old male was punched once in the face by the accused. The punch caused a chipped tooth and the victim falling to the ground, struck his head causing a cut to the top of it. The accused told the other youth to look after his friend and ran away from the scene.
An ambulance transported the victim to the hospital with serious injuries. After an overnight stay in the hospital the victim was released. Yesterday at 4:20 pm patrol officers located the accused and arrested and charged him with Aggravated Assault. He will appear in youth court in early July.
MAN ARRESTED FOR ASSAULTING WOMAN
At 4:45 this morning, patrol officers were called to a west end address where they that learned that on June 2nd at 3:30 pm a 19-year-old female been assaulted by her 29-year-old ex-boyfriend. The male had used a purse strap to strangle the victim.
After this assault he kicked her out of the house. At 3:30 am today, the victim returned to the house and the accused again assaulted her by pulling her hair and forcing her out of the home. Shortly before 5:00 am, patrol officers arrested and charged the male with Assault. He will appear in court on July 7th.
BREAK & ENTER
The Sault Ste. Marie Police Service investigated one break and enter complaint yesterday. Shortly after 8:00 am, patrol officers were called to Shaw Milling at 211Bruce St. where thieves had broken into the building.
Damage was estimated at over $100.00 and an initial investigation revealed nothing to be missing. The investigation into this incident is currently ongoing and anyone with information on it is asked to call the Sault Ste. Marie Police Service at 949-6300 or Crime Stoppers.
