Male Charged with Assault
Last evening at approx. 8:00 PM City Police arrested a 39 year old male and charged him with assault and weapons charges. The charges are the result of offences that took place on April 8th 2005 and June 17th 2005. On April 8th the accused slapped the victim in the face, stabbed her with a fork and struck her arm with a hammer. He then forcibly confined her to the house – thereby preventing her from obtaining medical attention for her injuries. On the 17th of June the accused again assaulted the victim by punching her and then pouring hot coffee on her. He then threatened to kill her if she contacted the police. The accused is charged with: Common Assault X 2, Assault Causing Bodily Harm X 3, Threatening and Forcible Confinement. He will be appearing in Bail Court today at 10:00 AM.
Break and Enters
Yesterday afternoon, at approx. 5:00 PM, City Police were dispatched to the Hiawatha Lodge, 767 Landslide Rd., in regards to a Break and Enter in Progress. Upon arrival the officers observed a broken window on the side of the building and a subsequent search of the building resulted in the arrest of a male. Charged with Break and Enter is Domas Ralph Balciunas, Age 52, of 130 Albert St.W. Apt. # 1. He will be appearing in Court on Monday July 25th at 9:00 AM.
City Police are investigating two Break and Enters that took place yesterday afternoon. One was in the 100 block of Capp Ave. and the second was in the 100 block of Lewis Rd. In the Capp Ave Break-in entry was gained via an unlocked window. Stereo equipment was reported stolen. In the Lewis Rd Incident culprit(s) kicked in the front door. Electronic equipment was stolen. Anyone seeing any suspicious persons in either of these neighbourhoods is asked to contact the City Police.
Male Assaults Store Clerk
Yesterday afternoon City Police were called to the Station Mall regarding an assault. Upon arrival officers were informed that a male trespasser had assaulted and threatened an employee of the Zellers Store. As a result the officers arrested and charged Randy Baxter, age 50, of 483 Nelson St. He will be appearing in court on Monday July 25th at 9:00 AM to face the charges.
Impaired Driving Charges Laid
At approx. 9:10 PM last night City Police officers observed a vehicle being driven in an erratic manner on Wallace Terrace. Upon investigating the driver the officers observed that his ability to operate a motor vehicle was impaired by alcohol. As a result Roger Duncan TAYLOR, age 50, of 365 Henry St. was arrested for Impaired Driving and Drive Over 80mgs. He will be appearing in court on Monday July 25th at 9:00 AM.
