ACCIDENTS The Sault Ste Marie Police Service’s Traffic Department is asking for the public’s assistance in the investigation of a motor vehicle collision. The accident occurred yesterday at 3 pm at the intersection of Huron St and Albert St W.

The Sault Ste Marie Police Service’s Traffic Department is asking for the public’s assistance in the investigation of a motor vehicle collision. The accident occurred yesterday at 3 pm at the intersection of Huron St and Albert St W. 3 persons were taken by ambulance to the hospital with minor injuries. Further investigation is required to determine if charges will be laid. Any one who has information regarding this accident is asked to contact the traffic department at 949-6300 ext 348.

2 further accidents occurred yesterday. The first one occurred at the Albert St W and Huron St where two vehicles collided, in which one person was transported to the hospital with minor injuries. Jason McGhee of Traverse City, Michigan was charged with failing to stop for a red light

The third accident occurred on McNabb St near Pine St when a pedestrian was struck while walking along the sidewalk by a driver pulling out of a driveway. The driver of the vehicle has not been charged and the pedestrian received minimal injuries.

CRIMINAL HARASSMENT CHARGES

A 36-year-old male will be appearing in bail court today on domestic related charges. It is alleged the male has been repeatedly calling the victim, showing at her residence unannounced and leaving her letters. The accused was already on a recognizance not to communicate directly or indirectly with the victim. As a result of this the male has been charged with one count of criminal harassment and on count of breaching his recognizance.

FAILS TO RETURN

29-year-old Scott Kenny of 176 Albert St W will appear in bail court today for being unlawfully at large from the Algoma Treatment and Remand Centre. Kenny was serving an intermittent sentence and failed to return to the Treatment Centre on the 28th of May.

YOUNG OFFENDERS BEHAVIOUR

A 14-year-old young person will appear in bail court today. The young person was charged with two counts of breach of an undertaking and 2 counts of fail to comply with probation. The youth failed to comply with a 9 pm curfew and also failed to keep the peace and be of good behaviour.

Another 14 year old youth will be in bail court today as well. The youth is charged with 2 counts of mischief after a window in a door was allegedly broken, damage was done to some walls and a telephone was broken.

LOTS OF B&E’S

City Police also investigated 4 break and enters yesterday. 2 businesses in the downtown area were broken into. The New American at 602 Bay Street was broken into overnight and a large quantity of cigarettes and some liquor was taken.

Boomers Night Club, 874 Queen Street East was also broken into. Thieves removed a safe from the business that contained an undisclosed amount of cash.

If anyone has any information regarding these break and enters and the whereabouts of the property they are asked to call Crime Stoppers at 949-7867.

Police also had 2 break and enters to garages in the City’s east end. A garage in the 100 block of Lake Street was entered though a rear window. Thieves made off with a Sony CD player and a couple of fishing rods.

A garage on Forest Avenue was also entered yesterday and a large quantity of tools was taken including an acetylene torch and a Hobert AC/DC welder.
