YOUTH ARRESTED
Yesterday at 7:50 am, a 16-year-old male turned himself in at the Police Services Building on Second Line East. The youth had failed to go to court on May 13th and an outstanding arrest warrant for this offence was executed. He will appear in bail court today.
ARRESTED FOR ASSAULT
On the 29th of May at approximately 4:40 am, the accused, a 27-year-old male, assaulted his common-law wife at a downtown residence by slapping her across the face and attempting to punch her.
Patrol officers were called to the home but the accused had fled prior to their arrival. Yesterday at 3:00 pm he turned himself over to detectives. He has been arrested and charged with Assault and will appear in court on September 8th.
DOMESTIC DISPUTE
Yesterday at 7:53 pm patrol officers were called to a downtown residence regarding a domestic dispute. Officers learned that a 44-year-old male and his girlfriend had returned to a downtown apartment when a verbal argument broke out.
The argument escalated to physical violence when the male grabbed the female by the throat. The victim suffered minor injuries in the incident. At 8:12 pm patrol officers arrested and charged the male with Assault. He will appear in court on September 8th.
CHARGED WITH SHOPLIFTING
Yesterday at 8:30 pm, the accused, Heather Rivers, age 29 of 180B Glasgow Avenue, allegedly removed several grocery items from Pino's IGA, 197 Trunk Road without paying for them.
Store staff stopped the accused outside the business and allegedly found her in possession of the items. Patrol officers were called to the store and at 9:45 pm arrested and charged the accused with Theft under $5,000.00. She will appear in bail court today.
BREACH OF UNDERTAKING
On Sunday, the accused, a 16-year-old male did not return home and thus breached his undertaking, which had the accused on a curfew of 10:30 p.m. When he did return home yesterday, police were called and at 12:15 am today they arrested and charged him with Failing to Comply with his Undertaking. He will appear in bail court today.
BREAK & ENTER
The Sault Ste. Marie Police Service responded to one break and enter complaint in the past 24 hours. Patrol Officers were called to CB Installations at 4:11 am this morning for a report of a break-in. It is unsure if anything was taken.
