DOMESTIC VIOLENCE
A 34-year-old male will appear in bail court on domestic violence-related matters. Last night around 11 pm City Police were called to an address in the city’s west end where after they received a complaint from a female regarding her common-law husband assaulting her.

It is alleged that the male pushed the female to the floor, repeatedly punched her in the face and also threatened to shoot and kill her if she called the police.

The male went to the police station a short time later and turned himself in. City police also seized a number of firearms from the accused during the course of their investigation.


IMPAIRED DRIVER
Around 11 am yesterday, patrol officers stopped a vehicle on Lyons Avenue and found the driver of the vehicle to be impaired. Jolanta Zenka, age 48, of 172 Allard Street has been charged with one count of impaired driving and one count of consume over the legal limit. She will appear in court on August 30th.


SEXUAL ASSAULT
Early last evening patrol officers with the assistance of officers from the Investigation Services Section investigated a complaint of a sexual assault that occurred yesterday in a residence in the City’s west end.

During the course of the investigation it was also learned that the same victim had been previously sexually assaulted by the same accused late last fall. A 24-year-old male has been charged with 2 counts of sexual assault and will appear in court on August 30th. The name of the accused is not being released at this time, as it would identify the victim.


CHARGED WITH ASSAULT
31-year-old Kenny Boyer of 58 East Street will appear in court on August 30th after being arrested by City Police yesterday. Shortly before 4:30 pm an adult female was walking westbound on Queen Street East in the 300 block when a male came up to her and attempted to grab the shoulder strap of the purse.

The female pulled her purse away from him, and questioned him regarding his actions. The male then spit in the woman’s face and walked away. Based on the description provided by the victim patrol officers arrested the accused very shortly after the incident. Mr. Boyer has been charged with one count of assault, one count of attempt to commit theft, and one count of theft under $5,000.


BREAK & ENTER
Yesterday morning police took a report of a break and enter to a business on Spring Street. Quizno’s was broken into sometime overnight. Thieves made off with the store safe and it’s contents. An undisclosed amount of money was taken. If anyone witnessed this break and enter or knows the whereabouts of the safe and contents, call City Police at 949-6300 or Crime Stoppers at 942-7867.


MOPED HITS CAR
Yesterday morning around 10 am City Police were called to Great Northern Road and Northern Avenue for a report of an accident with possible injuries. It is alleged that 21-year-old Joshua McMullin, of 400 Boundary Road, pulled out of an address in the 300 block of Northern Avenue on his moped and struck a car that was travelling southbound on Great Northern Road.

The driver of the car, 64-year-old Orlando Caputo, of 110 Walnut Street did not receive any injuries and Mr. McMullin did not require treatment for his injuries at the time of the accident. Mr. McMullin has been charged under the Highway Traffic Act of Ontario with one count of fail to yield.


TRAIN HITS PICKUP
Around 4 am today, a car operated by Ghislam Langelier, age 42, of 54 Market Street was involved in an accident with a train. It is alleged that Mr. Langelier stopped for the flashing lights at the railway crossing on Wellington St W and then proceeded to cross the tracks.

A Huron Central train was reversing on the tracks and struck the pickup truck driven by Mr. Langelier and caused the truck to move along the tracks coming to a rest just south of John Street. Mr. Langelier was extremely lucky in that he received no injuries. The damage to his pickup truck is noted as being severe. He has been charged under the Highway Traffic Act of Ontario with disobey railway-crossing signal-proceed unsafely.
