Evening news: A storage shed was reported broken into in the 800 block of Second Line West. It is reported that between 5:00 p.m. Friday and 9:00 a.m. this morning locks were cut off the building but nothing was stolen.

A vehicle in the 500 block of Parliament Street was entered overnight however nothing was stolen.

$40. U. S. currency was reported stolen from a vehicle that was left unlocked on Church Street.

Locks were broken off the door of Ficmar Builders on Great Northern Road.  It is not believed entry was gained and nothing was reported stolen.

A wallet and keys were reported stolen from a vehicle parked in the 100 block of Spring Street.

A 17 year old male was arrested for assault. It is alleged that the male struck a female known to him in the face with his hand.  The male will appear in court on August 6.

53 year old Mike Sweeney of 92 Grace Street was arrested for one count of theft under $5000.  It is alleged that on July 2 2013 the accused entered the Garage Clothing Store in the Station Mall, selected a pair of blue jeans valued at $45.09 and left the store without paying for them.  Mr. Sweeney will be appearing in court on July 29.

Morning news:

On the 30th of June 2013 at approximately 3:30 am City Police attended in the central area of town for a domestic dispute.  When officer arrived at the residence they learned that a 43-year old female had allegedly assaulted her boyfriend by punching him twice in the face.  When the female was taken into custody she kicked an officer in the leg.  Once at the police station the accused assaulted a second police officer by kicking them in the leg as well.  The female has been charged with one count of assault and two counts of assault police.  She will appear in court on July 31st.

On the 28th of June a residence on Adelaide Street was broken into.  It is believed that the break and enter took place between the 23rd and 28th of June.  Items taken include a television, a small fridge and an air conditioner.

On the 29th of June between 1 pm and 5:30 pm a residence on Cathcart Street was entered.  It is unknown what was taken.

On the 1st of July at approximately 2:50 am a homeowner on Wilding Avenue woke up and called to report that someone was trying to break into their home.  The would-be thief was scared off by the homeowner’s dog.

On the 29th of June a vehicle parked at a residence on Lake Street was entered.  Items taken include a Garmin GPS and some change.

On the 28th of June an individual parked their vehicle at the area of the Locks around 5 pm and went for a walk.  A purse was left in the back of the vehicle.  When the owner returned they discovered that the purse and contents were missing.

Overnight on the 30th of June and the 1st of July a vehicle parked on Spruce Street was entered.  A wallet and IPod Nano were taken.

The Sault Ste. Marie Police Service would again like to remind vehicle owners not to leave anything of value in their vehicles.

A 25 year old Sault Ste Marie man will be appearing in bail court later this morning after he was charged on July 1st with one count of domestic assault. It is alleged the accused and his common law girlfriend got into a verbal argument which escalated into the male assaulting the victim by pushing her, grabbing her hair and head butting her in the face area.

City Police officers were called to a west end residence early last evening with regards to a stabbing incident. Investigation determined that 2 males began arguing with one and other over one of them bothering the other one’s dogs. During the altercation the accused person stabbed the victim in the neck under his jaw and punched him in the mouth. The victim was transported to the Sault area hospital where he was treated for non life threatening injuries.  24 year old John Wayne McGaughey was charged with assault with a weapon. He was also wanted on an outstanding warrant for failing to attend court. Mr.McGaughey will be appearing in bail court later this morning.
