Four persons to appear in bail court On Friday December 30 th at approximately 10:00 pm members of the Sault Ste. Marie Police Service arrested a 54-year-old male for assault.

Four persons to appear in bail court

On Friday December 30th at approximately 10:00 pm members of the Sault Ste. Marie Police Service arrested a 54-year-old male for assault. It is alleged that the accused assaulted his common-law partner by striking her with a chair. The victim suffered minor injuries and was treated at the scene. The accused is charged with one count of assault with a weapon.

Last night at approximately 8:00 pm members of the Sault Ste. Marie Police Service arrested a 46-year-old male for assault, mischief, dangerous driving and resist arrest. It is alleged that the accused attended his ex-wife’s residence and assaulted her. It is further alleged that he then got into his vehicle and drove it into a vehicle parked on the street. It is further alleged that when police arrived the accused drove his vehicle into the police car several times and resisted arrest. The victim did not require medical assistance due to the assault. The accused is charged with one count of assault, one count of resist arrest, one count of mischief and one count of dangerous driving.

On Saturday December 31st members of the Sault Ste. Marie Police Service arrested a 16-year-old male for robbery, break and enter, forcible confinement, assault with a weapon, possession of a weapon dangerous and theft. It is alleged that between December 30th and 31st the accused broke into the victim’s residence, assaulted the victim with a knife and forcibly confined the victim. It is further alleged that the accused stole electronic items from the victim. The accused is then alleged to have again attended at the victim’s address and assaulted him with an “ASP” (Armament Systems Procedures) weapon. The accused is charged with one count of robbery, two counts of assault with a weapon, two counts of possession of a weapon dangerous to the public, two counts of threatening death, one count of forcible confinement, one count theft under $ 5,000 and one count of possession of a controlled substance.

On January 1st members of the Sault Ste. Marie Police Service arrested a 27-year-old male for mischief. It is alleged that the accused male attended at Reggie’s Tavern, 458 Queen St. E. and damaged a window. It is further alleged that t the accused damaged a vehicle on Queen St. E. by kicking the vehicle. Randy Wiegand, age 27, of 908 Sixth Ave is charged with two counts of mischief.

Male arrested for breach of an undertaking

On Saturday December 31st members of the Sault Ste. Marie Police Service arrested an 80-year-old male for breach of an undertaking. It is alleged that the accused breached conditions of his undertaking release order by harassing the victim. The accused is charged with one count of breach of an undertaking and is to appear in court on February 6th

Two persons arrested for drinking and driving offences

On December 30th members of the Sault Ste. Marie Police Service arrested a 25-year-old male for impaired driving causing bodily harm and refusing to provide a breath sample. It is alleged that the accused, while under the influence of alcohol, was operating a motor vehicle on Base Line when the vehicle went off the road and struck a tree. A passenger in the vehicle was injured and was transported to the hospital. It is further alleged that the accused refused to provide a breath sample. Tyler Lannigan, age 25 of 2765 Base Line Rd is charged with one count of refusing to provide breath sample and one count of impaired driving causing bodily harm.

Last night at 11:00 pm members of the Sault Ste. Marie Police Service arrested a 59-year-old male for impaired driving. It is alleged that the accused was operating his vehicle on Schultz Side Rd when it drove off the road and into the ditch. Ludwik Widlas, age 59, of 47 London St. is charged with one count of drive over 80 mgs. Mr. Widlas is to appear in court on February 6th at 9:00 am.

Female arrested for threatening

On Friday December 30th members of the Sault Ste. Marie Police Service arrested a 31-year-old female for threatening. It is alleged that the accused, while at the Sault Area Hospital, threatened to assault a nurse. Police attended at arrested the accused. Dayna Johnston, age 31 of 33 Crystal Pl. Apt # 6 is charged with one count of threatening. Ms Johnston is to appear in court on January 30th at 9:00 am.

Break and enter

An attempted break and enter was reported at 7:50 pm on December 31st in the 100 block of James St. The suspects involved are described as a native male and a native female. The male had his hair in a ponytail and was wearing a black and grey hoodie. The female was wearing a red coat.

An attempted break in was reported to an apartment in the 300 block of Dacey Rd on January 1st at 2:50 am.  Suspect is described as a male in his 20’s, 5’9” tall.

Break and enters were reported to residences in the following locations:

  • The 200 block of East Balfour St – jewellery, electronics and cash were stolen.
  • The 100 block of St. Basil’s Dr. – electronics were stolen.
  • An apartment in the 500 block of Douglas St. – electronics and cash were stolen.

Mischief

Windows were damaged at residences in the 300 block of Wallace Terr., the 200 block of McNabb St and to a bus shelter on McNabb near Willow Ave.

A vehicle was reported damaged in the 100 block of Breton Rd.

Theft

A 1991 brown Dodge Dakota was stolen from the 800 block of Queen St. E.
