MAN ARRESTED FOR SEXUALLY ASSAULTING A 10-YEAR-OLD
During a period of approximately two years in the late 1980's and early 1990's, Anthony Petroni, age 55 of 161 Goetz Street allegedly sexually assaulted a female youth at a private residence in Sault Ste Marie. During this time the accused allegedly sexually abused the victim on four specific occasions.

The female victim, who was known to the accused, was under ten years of age at the time of the assaults. The victim contacted the police service in December 2002 with this information and an investigation was begun.

Detectives from the Investigation Services Section yesterday arrested and charged Petroni with two counts of Sexual Assault, four counts of Sexual Interference and one count of Invitation to Sexual Touching. He will appear in court Feb. 24th.


CHARGED WITH THREATENING DEATH OVER 4 CIGARETTES
On Sunday at approximately 7:30 - 8:00 pm, Albert Lauzon, age 40 of 441 Queen Street West knocked on another door of an apartment in his building and spoke to two people there demanding repayment of 4 cigarettes that they owed him.

When he didn't get the cigarettes he stated "if I don't get them by tomorrow night I will kick in your door and break your necks". Upon leaving he threatened to kill both of them. The victim contacted the police service yesterday and patrol officers began an investigation into the threats.

Yesterday at 4:45 pm, officers arrested and charged Lauzon with Uttering Threats to Cause Death or Bodily Harm and Breach of Probation Order. He will appear in court Feb. 24th.


YOUNGSTER CHARGED WITH TRESPASSING
A 12-year-old male found himself in trouble for trespassing at Station Mall last evening around 7:30 pm. The youth had been cautioned numerous times by Mall Security to leave the mall area and he refused.

Patrol officers were called to the mall and charged the youth with Failing To Leave A Premise When Directed under the Trespass To Property Act. The youth must now appear in Provincial Offences court in mid February to answer to this charge.


VEHICLE BREAK & ENTER
A man came out of the McMeeken Arena last night shortly after midnight to find that thieves had broken into his car. The thief had stolen some change and gloves from the vehicle after he rummaged through it. Patrol officers began an investigation into this incident and at 1:20 am this morning arrested and charged a 16-year-old male young offender with Theft under $5,000.00 in relation to this matter. He will appear in court at the end of February.

Yesterday morning a resident of Grosvenor Ave. advised police that thieves broke into his garage and stole some items. Officers are continuing this investigation and request anyone with information on this incident or any other criminal matter contact City Police at 949-6300 or Crimestoppers.
