LATE FOR COURT
Yesterday, Troy Chikoski, age 20 of 353 Second Avenue went to the Police Services Building to turn himself in. The accused produced a summons to attend court dated January 13 at 09:00 am. He advised police that he had been at court but was late and he was informed that a warrant for his arrest was being prepared.
The accused was arrested at 2:10 pm on reasonable grounds to believe a bench warrant existed. The accused was charged with failing to appear court and breach of his probation order. Chikoski will appear in court on Feb. 17th.
NOT REALLY HIMSELF
Yesterday, Patrick Pheasant, age 24 of 240 Albert Street West, Apt.2, was in bail court and he stated at that time his name was Jason Pheasant not Patrick Pheasant. Pheasant was arrested and charged by police with Personation, as well as his original charges of attempt theft. He will appear in bail court today.
ATTEMPTED THEFT FROM SAULT COLLEGE
On December 17, 2002, an unknown person attempted to take a Sanyo ProEx Multimedia Projector valued at $3,500 from a classroom at Sault College located at 443 Northern Avenue by jumping up on a desk and trying to remove it from the ceiling.
The thief was unsuccessful and took off on foot. On January 13th at 5:26 pm patrol officers arrested and charged Gray Latvanen, age 29 of 474 Northern Avenue with Theft and Attempt Theft in relation to this matter. He will appear in bail court today.
OPERATING SNOWMACHINE WITH NO LICENCE
On Monday night at 9:47 pm, April Anderson, age 18 of 29 Willowdale Street was operating a 2000 Bombardier MXZ snow machine 4 kms north of McNabb Street in the staging area.
Anderson failed to negotiate a turn and struck a ditch. She was ejected from the snow machine along with her passenger, Stephen Johnson, age 18 of 11 Anna Street. The snow machine continued on, without the riders, another 300 metres and struck a tree. Johnson was able to summons help and Anderson was subsequently taken to hospital by ambulance with minor injuries.
Anderson has been charged with driving the snow machine with no licence under the Motorized Snow Vehicle Act.
BREAK-IN AT WHITE PINES
Patrol officers were dispatched to White Pines High School at 9:24 am yesterday morning in response to a report of a break and enter that had occurred overnight.
Officers determined thieves entered the building and stole the hard drive of a computer. The investigation into this occurrence is continuing and anyone with information on this incident is asked to contact Police at 949-6300 or Crime Stoppers.
15 ACCIDENTS INVESTIGATED
The Police Service investigated 15 motor vehicle collisions yesterday. Motorists are once again reminded that winter conditions require extra caution when driving.
