Sometime overnight between January 10 and January 11 a residence in the 100 block of Albert Street East was broken into. Nothing was taken. Sometime in the evening hours of January 11th a residence on Wallace Terrace was broken into.

Over the weekend the Sault Ste. Marie Police Service received several calls regarding two suspicious males. The males were going door to door and asking to enter homes to check the filter on the furnace. In one instance the homeowner was advised that the filter needed to be changed according to a by-law. None of the homeowners allowed the males to enter. The Sault Ste. Marie Police Service would like to remind the public to not let any persons into your home that you have not called or do not know. The public is encouraged to report any suspicious activity of this nature by calling the Sault Ste. Marie Police Service at 705-949-6300.

At 1:50 p.m. on January 11, 2016, city police arrested 45-year-old Donald Corey of West Street. It’s alleged that the accused was operating a vehicle on Wellington Street in contravention of a Criminal Code prohibition. He has been charged with one count of drive motor vehicle while prohibited and will be appearing in court on February 22, 2016.
