Reminder Tonight the Sault Ste. Marie Police Service, in conjunction with the Holiday Inn, will honour those members of the public, businesses and organizations that have assisted the Police Service in 2004.

Tonight the Sault Ste. Marie Police Service, in conjunction with the Holiday Inn, will honour those members of the public, businesses and organizations that have assisted the Police Service in 2004. This is the 19th year that the Holiday Inn and the Sault Ste. Marie Police Service have hosted the annual Police Community Programs Night. It is only with the assistance and efforts of these organizations and individuals that the Police Service can continue to work with the Community to make the Sault and Prince Township a better place to live. The Sault Ste. Marie Police Service as well as the Sault Ste. Marie Police Service Board will be recognizing a number of businesses and organizations, as well as citizens who have assisted the Service. Tonight is also the night the Sault Safety Patroller Association will draw the winning ticket for the trip for 2 to Las Vegas. Air Canada Jazz and Sun Holiday sponsored this fundraiser, which is used to take 40 patrollers to Ottawa for 4 days. Tomorrow’s release will name those individuals and organizations that were highlighted this year.

Male Charged with Breach of a Release Document

A 43-year old male will appear in bail court after being charged with calling his ex-wife while on conditions not to communicate with her except through legal counsel. It is alleged that on the 17th of February and the 20th of February the male place 2 calls to the victim’s residence. The male has been charged with 2 counts of breach of a release document.

Male to Appear in Court Today on Outstanding Warrants

24-year old Luke Whalen of no fixed address was arrested yesterday afternoon after police checked a vehicle at the Fort Creek Conservation Area off of Second Line East. A query of the accused revealed he was wanted on outstanding warrants. The warrants stem from incidents in 2004 and relate to charges of one count of breach of a release order, one count of fail to appear for finger prints and one count of possession of a controlled drug or substance. The accused will appear in bail court this morning.

Male Charged with 2 Counts of Threatening

Yesterday morning 24-year old Timothy Jubenville of 418 Wallace Terrace was arrested on outstanding warrants. The incidents stem from September of last year. The accused was wanted on warrants for 2 counts of threatening, one count of fail to breach of a release order and one count of resist arrest. He will appear in bail court this morning as well.

Yesterday’s Release

On the 19th, 3 homeowners in the 100 block of Terry Fox Place reported their residences entered overnight. Items taken include cigarettes, a small amount of money, a wallet and a digital camera.

Update:

Yesterday morning officers from Investigation Services arrested a 16-year old youth in connection to the 3 break and enters to the 100 block of Terry Fox Place. The youth was on probation at the time of the offences. The youth has been charged with 3 counts of break and enter and commit an offence and 2 counts of breach of probation. The youth will appear in court on March 29th.

Youth Charged

Last evening patrol officers attended at a west end address regarding 2 persons allegedly consuming a drink with rubbing alcohol in it. One of the victim’s was taken to the hospital for treatment after consuming some of the drink. The second victim did not ingest the drink after the first taste. A 16-year old youth, who allegedly supplied the victims with the drink, has been charged with 2 counts of administer noxious thing. The youth will appear in court on March 29th.

Youth Charged with Assault

An 18-year old youth will appear in court on April 4th after being charged with assault after Police attended in a City High School for an assault complaint on February 18th. It is alleged that the accused assaulted a male by pushing him. When the 18-year old was arrested yesterday morning for the assault officers found a bandana with a combination lock wrapped inside it on the accused. At the time of the offence the accused was on a Youth Criminal Justice Act probation order. The accused has been charged with one count of assault, one count of possession of a weapon for purpose dangerous to public, and 2 counts of breach of probation. Due to the YCJA probation order, the name of the accused cannot be released.

Break and Enter Charges Laid

A 16-year old youth was also charged yesterday after City Police arrested this youth for an assault on the 18th of February. It is alleged that the youth assaulted a male victim by kicking the victim. This incident of assault occurred at a local high school as well. The officer investigating the assault complaint also arrested this youth for allegedly breaking into a residence in the 100 block of Wellington Street West on the 15th of February. The youth has been charged with one count of assault and one count of break and enter and commit an offence. The accused will appear in court on March 29th.

Motor Vehicle Collision

Yesterday afternoon shortly before 4 pm, officers from Traffic Services attended at the Wellington Street West near Hudson Street for a motor vehicle collision with injuries. A van operated by Norman Lebel of 371 Goulais Avenue was traveling eastbound on Wellington Street West, as was a car operated by Patricia Mousseau of 366 Korah Road. The Mousseau vehicle stopped and it is alleged that the Lebel vehicle ran into the back of the Mousseau vehicle. Mrs. Mousseau was taken by ambulance for treatment of non-life threatening injuries. Mr. Lebel has been charged under the Highway Traffic Act of Ontario with one count of follow to close.
