Three Persons Arrested after Vehicle Stop – Facing Drug Possession and Trafficking Charges
On the 14th of February members of the Sault Ste Marie Police Service Street Team, Emergency Services Unit, Investigations Services and Canine Unit concluded a drug and weapons investigation by conducting a traffic stop on Frontenac Street at 10:44 pm. There were three occupants inside the GMC Jimmy at the time the stop, two males and one female. During the search of the vehicle, officers located 16.8 grams of cocaine on the floor and found the male driver to be in possession of 5.7 grams of cocaine in 5 individually wrapped packages along with 1.1 grams of marihuana and a toking pipe and cutting agents.

As a result, the driver, 35 year-old Ronald Baron of 2 Mackey Street Unit #2 in Wawa Ontario, was charged with two counts of Possession of a Controlled Drug or Substance for the Purpose of Trafficking, and two counts of Possession of a Controlled Drug or Substance.

At the time of the offences, Baron was bound by the conditions of a recognizance order to abstain from the possession of items listed in the Controlled Drugs and Substances Act and conditions of a probation order to keep the peace and be of good behavior. As a result, he was further charged with two counts of Breach of Probation and one count of Breach of Recognizance. He is to appear in bail court this morning.

The male passenger, 31 year-old Louis Mallette, also of 2 Mackey Street Unit #2 in Wawa Ontario, was charged with one count of Possession of a Controlled Drug or Substance for the Purpose of Trafficking. At the time of the offences Mallette was bound by the conditions of a probation order to keep the peace and be of good behavior. As a result he was further charged with one count of Breach of Probation. He is also appearing in bail court this morning.

The female passenger, 38 year-old Nicole Morningstar of 382 Church Street in Echo Bay Ontario, was charged with one count of Possession of a Controlled Drug or Substance for the Purpose of Trafficking and is to appear in court on the 21st of March.

The estimated street value of the drugs seized is $2270.00.

Two Shoplifting Arrests
Officers with the Sault Ste Marie Police Service arrested 32 year-old Jacquilynne Gray of 75 James Street (main) at 1:15 pm yesterday at Wal-Mart and charged her with one count of Theft under $5,000 and one count of Breach of Probation. It is alleged that on that date she attended at the store and stole a number of items. At the time of the offence she was on probation with conditions that she keep peace and be good. She is to attend in court on the 21st of March.

Officers with the Sault Ste. Marie Police Service arrested a 16 year-old female 8:50 pm last night at the IDA in the Station Mall and charged her with one count of theft under $5,000. It is alleged that she attended at the drug store and stole some medication. She is to appear in court on the 15th of March.

Male Arrested on Outstanding Warrant
Officers with the Sault Ste. Marie Police Service arrested 41 year-old David Swanson on an outstanding warrant at 10:25 am yesterday morning on Queen Street East. He was charged with one count of fail to appear for fingerprints from the 20th of January. He is to appear in court on the 21st of March.

Attempt Break and Enter to Garage on Douglas Street
Officers were called to a residence on Douglas Street just before 11 pm last night after three males attempted to break into the home owner’s garage. The neighbour chased the three males, described as being around 18 years of age, away from the property. All three males were wearing dark clothing. Officers searched the area with negative results. No entry was gained.
