Motor Vehicle Collision with Injuries
In the last 24-hour period City Police investigated 11 motor vehicle collisions. One of them involved injuries. Yesterday afternoon around 2 pm, City Police attended at Second Line West and Edison Avenue for a report of a single motor vehicle collision. It is alleged that a car operated by 86-year old Anthony Bradley of Roosevelt Avenue lost control of his vehicle while traveling westbound on Second Line West and slid into a pole on Edison Avenue. The roads were described as being packed snow and slush. The PUC attended to repair the pole and the driver of the vehicle was treated at the hospital for non-life threatening injuries. The vehicle damage was described as severe. No charges have been laid in this matter.
Youth Charged with Theft Under $5000
Around 5:30 pm last night security staff at the Sears Store in the Station Mall apprehended a 16-year old youth. It is alleged the accused left the store without paying for a CD Walkman, a MP3 player and some socks. The value of the property was approximately $325. The youth has been charged with one count of theft under $5,000 and will appear in court on March 22nd.
Break and Enter Charges Involving a Youth
A 16-year old youth was arrested yesterday afternoon in relation to a break and enter that occurred between the 12th and 13th of February to a home in the 100 block of Spadina Avenue. It is alleged that the youth stole Canadian Tire money and some liquor from the residence. The youth has been charged with one count of break and enter and commit an offence and one count of possession of property obtained by crime. The youth will appear in court on March 22nd.
Youth Charged with Threatening to Cause Death
Shortly after 1 am this morning City Police arrested a 16-year old youth and charged them with one count of threatening to cause death or bodily harm. It is alleged that the youth called their ex-girlfriend and threatened to harm her. The youth will appear in court on March 22nd.
Possession of A Controlled Drug Charges Laid
Last evening officers from the Joint Forces Drug Unit arrested a male and a female for possession of a controlled drug or substance. It is alleged that the 2 accused persons were sitting in a vehicle in the downtown area smoking drugs. Officers seized a small amount of marihuana from the 2 accused and when officers searched the male they found another 4.2 grams of marihuana on his person with a street value of $120. 24-year old Jennifer Crosbie of 109-379 Lake Street has been charged with one count of possession of a controlled drug or substance and 39-year old Terry Chevrier (male) of 2-470 John Street has been charged with 2 counts of possession of a controlled drug or substance. Both persons will appear in court on March 14th.
Break and Enter Reported
Yesterday City Police received a report of a break and enter into a home in the 300 block of Fifth Avenue. The break and enter occurred in the morning hours and it is unknown what was taken at the time of this report.
