Assault Charges Laid
At approx. 6:00 PM yesterday evening City Police were contacted to attend at a centrally located address in regards to an assault. Upon arrival officers located a female that had been assault. It is alleged that the complainant’s 61-year-old boyfriend assaulted her by punching her in the nose. Accused was located at the address and arrested for Assault. He will be appearing in Bail Court today at 10:00 AM.
The victim was treated for injuries to her face by Ambulance Services and released.
Domestic Dispute in the East End
Last evening at approx. 8:50 PM City Police attended an east end residence in regards to a domestic dispute. Upon arrival the officers were informed that the complainant and her boyfriend had been involved in an argument that escalated to an assault. The victim reported being punched in face by the accused. The 47-year-old male was arrested for Assault and will be appearing in Bail Court today at 10:00 AM.
Charges Laid for Past Assault
Yesterday afternoon City Police received a complaint of an assault that took place on November 17th of this year. The complainant reported that on Nov. 17th she was at her boyfriend’s residence when he became upset with her and assaulted her – by pushing her face into a door. The Accused then refused to let the victim leave. At approx. 4:00 PM the 42-year-old male attended at the police station and was arrested for Assault and Forcible Confinement. He will be appearing in Bail Court today at 10:00 AM.
Mischief & Transportation Fraud
At approx. 5:00 AM yesterday morning City Police were called to attend at the Norwest Inn, on Hynes St. in regards to a fare dispute and a mischief. Upon arrival officers were informed that the accused had taken a taxi to the Norwest Inn and then refused to pay the fare. Upon exiting the cab the accused smashed a window at the Norwest Inn. Charged with Mischief Under $ 5,000.00 and Transportation Fraud is William McKersie, age 62, of 682 bay St. Apt. # 2. He will be appearing in court on Monday Jan 15th at 9:00 AM.
Fraud Charges
Yesterday morning at approx. 9:40 AM City Police arrested and charged Bernice Glew with Fraud. It is alleged that the accused did in April 2005 defraud the Huron Superior Catholic District School Board of approx. $ 395.00. The accused is alleged to have submitted receipts for expenses she was not entitled. The accused Bernice Glew, age64, of 189 Reid St. will be appearing in court on Monday Jan15th at 9:00 AM.
Break & Enter
There was one Break and Enter reported yesterday. In the incident a male entered a home in the 100 block of St. George’s Ave. E. upon entering the suspect was met by the female homeowner. The suspect stated he entered to call a taxi and then fled. Suspect is described as: Male white, late teens, approx. 6’ tall, wearing a beige coat and a dark toque with earflaps.
