A member of the Sault Ste. Marie Police Service had his shirt ripped and glasses bent when he responded to a domestic dispute last night.

Police were called to the 900 block of Peoples Road around 11:30 p.m. after one person was reportedly kicked in the head.

After being arrested for assault, a suspect then turned on the police officer, resulting in further charges of assaulting police and resisting arrest.

The Peoples Road matter was one of two significant domestic matters attended by City Police last night.

The other happened around 7 p.m. on Copernicus Drive, where a man was charged with threatening to kill two children.
Alcohol and drugs may have played a role in that dispute, police believe.
