The Sault Ste Marie Police Service had a relatively quiet day yesterday responding to 60 calls for assistance. MOTOR VEHICLES INVOLVED Eleven of those calls were for motor vehicle collisions.

MOTOR VEHICLES INVOLVED

Eleven of those calls were for motor vehicle collisions. One of the collisions, at the intersection of Huron St and Albert St.W., resulted in minor injuries but medical attention was not required. In the accident a vehicle being driven by Lindsay Bishop, 20, of St. Ignace, Mich. was struck by a vehicle being driven by Tracy Mercer, 28, of 484 Albert St.W.
Lindsay Bishop was charged under the Highway Traffic Act offence of Disobeying a Red Light- failing to Stop.

Yesterday evening, at approx. 7:30 PM, an unknown person called the Sault Ste Marie Police Services to advise that they were possibly following an Impaired Driver. The caller advised the police that the suspect driver was driving in an erratic manner and had hit the snow bank on two occasions. The caller followed the vehicle until police arrived and stopped the driver.

Subsequently the driver, Theresa Dunster, 43, of 92 Wemyss St was arrested for impaired diving. Mrs. Dunster will appear in court on Jan.19/04 on Charges of Impaired Driving and Failing to Provide a Breath Sample.

BREAK INS

The City Police are investigating two Break and Enters that took place with the past 24 hours. The first was to an apartment, under construction, in the 400 block of Queen St.W. In this incident culprits forced the door and stole a quantity of tools.

The second Break and Enter came in as an alarm. At approximately 2:30 this morning. City Police responded to an alarm call to the Beaver Gas Station at 266 Korah Rd. Upon arrival officers discovered that the premises had been broken into. It is not known at this time what was stolen.
