Male Charged With Assault Yesterday afternoon 20-year old Bradley Vanatta of 343 Korah Road was arrested by City Police officers after he assaulted a property owner in the City’s central area.

Yesterday afternoon 20-year old Bradley Vanatta of 343 Korah Road was arrested by City Police officers after he assaulted a property owner in the City’s central area. It is alleged that the accused was on property that he had been advised he was not allowed to be on and when the property owner went to arrest him under the Trespass to Property Act the accused assaulted the property owner. When attending officers went to arrest the accused he resisted arrest and also caused a disturbance by swearing. At the time of the incident the accused was on probation with terms to keep the peace and be good. The accused has been charged with one count of assault, one count of resist arrest, one count of breach of peace, one count of breach of probation and one count of cause a disturbance by swearing. He will appear in court on January 17th.

Icy Road Conditions and Accidents

2 accidents with injuries that occurred yesterday are being blamed on slippery road conditions. Yesterday morning just before 9 am officers investigated an accident in the 100 block of Amber Street. It is alleged that a car being operated by Paula Greco of 155 Willowdale was traveling southbound on Amber Street when she attempted to stop and crossed the road and ran into a car being operated by Lisa Gravelle of 61 Willowdale St, which was traveling northbound. A young person in the Gravelle vehicle was taken by a parent to the hospital for treatment of non-life threatening injuries. No charges have been laid in this matter.

In the second accident officers attended on Lake Street in the 500 block at 6:30 pm. A pickup truck being operated by Robert Hyde of 561 Lake Street was traveling northbound on Lake Street when it slowed down to turn into a civic address in the 500 block. A northbound car being operated by Kelly Schultz of 454 Lake Street slid into the back of the Hyde pickup when she attempted to slow down . Mrs. Schultz was taken by ambulance to the Sault Area Hospital for treatment of non-life threatening injuries. No charges have been laid in this investigation.

Break and Enters

City Police are investigating 2 residential break and enters that were reported yesterday. Yesterday during the daytime hours thieves entered a home in the 100 block of Euclid Rd and left with money and jewellery. Early this morning thieves entered a home in the 700 block of Metzger St and made of with money, jewellery, a stereo and a dvd player.
