Bail Court Appearance Arrests:

Search Warrant Arrest:
On the 23rd of September at 6:08 am members of the Sault Ste. Marie Police Service Street Team, the Emergency Service Unit and the Canine Unit executed a search warrant at 105 Wellington St. West. During the course of the search officers located a sawed off 12 gauge shotgun, 5.2 grams of methamphetamine, a digital scale, packaging materials, 5 codeine tablets and a prohibited knife. The estimated street value of the drugs seized was $880.00.
As a result, arrested and charged at the residence was 24 year-old Lance Wabigwan of 105 Wellington Street West charged with two counts of possession of a controlled drug for the purpose of trafficking, one count of possession of a controlled drug or substance, one count of careless use or storage of a firearm, unauthorized possession of a firearm, two counts of knowledge of unauthorized possession of a weapon, and one count of breach of probation. The investigation is continuing and further charges are pending.

Two Arrested in Stolen Vehicle Incident:

On the 23rd of September at 6:27 pm officers on patrol observed a stolen vehicle travelling southbound on Carmen’s Way. Police pulled the vehicle over on Cathcart Street and arrested the two occupants. The vehicle, a 1990 Ford Econoline van, had been reported stolen earlier in the day from a residence on Fourth Line East.
As a result, arrested and charged was the driver, 51 year-old Russell Barton of #2-142 Albert Street East with one count of possession of property obtained by crime and 35 year-old Heather Rivers of #301-536A Goulais Avenue charged with one count of possession of property obtained by crime, one count of theft under $5,000.00 and one count of breach of probation.

Female Charged with Failing to Provide Breath Sample:

43 year-old Barbara Schmidt of 479 Bush Street was arrested on the 24th of September at 2:42 am on Bush Street and charged with one count of fail to provide breath sample. It is alleged that on the 24th of September at approximately 2:40 am the accused, driving a 1999 Chev, was stopped and checked by city police on Bush Street and at the time she appeared to be under the influence of alcohol. The accused failed to provide a breath sample into the roadside screening device. She will appear in court on the 26th of October.

Youth Shoplifter Charged after Stealing Cough Medicine:

A 16 year-old male youth was arrested on the 23rd of October at 3:05 pm on Churchill Boulevard and charged with one count of theft under $5,000.00. It is alleged that on the 223rd of September the accused stole cough medicine from A&P on Churchill Boulevard. He was apprehended by store security and police were called. He is to appear in court on the 27th of October.

Domestic Related Arrest:

A 41 year-old male was arrested on the 24th of September at 12:08 am on Great Northern Road and charged with one count of assault. It is alleged that on the 24th of September the accused assaulted his common-law partner while at a local bar. The victim received non-life threatening injuries as a result. The accused is to appear in court on the 28th of October.

Property Crimes:
Theft Reports:

• At the Essar Centre yesterday, three theft reports were taken, two wallets and money stolen from a wallet. The items were taken from change rooms.
