Domestic Related Incident involving a Shotgun Results in Several Charges:

A 34 year-old male was arrested on the 17th of September at 2:45 am on Fourth Line West and charged with one count of impaired driving, one count of consume over the legal limit, one count of possession of a weapon for dangerous purpose, one count of possession of a weapon in a motor vehicle, one count of unauthorized possession of a firearm, one count of possession of a firearm knowing possession unauthorized and one count of careless use or storage of a firearm. It is alleged that just after 2 am this morning city police received a call regarding a female being threatened by her common law partner with a shotgun. Police learned that the two had been in an argument earlier in the evening at their residence and the female had left the residence to stay with a friend. The accused called the victim on the phone and advised he was heading there with a shotgun. Officers on route to the victim’s location, observed the accused driving a Ford Pickup erratically at a high rate of speed on Fourth Line West near Allen’s Side Road. Police stopped the vehicle and found the accused to be under the influence of alcohol. Officers located a loaded shotgun on the front seat of the truck. The shotgun was not registered and the accused did not have a valid firearm licence to possess the shotgun. The accused is to appear in bail court this morning.

Four Males Arrested for Assaulting Fellow Inmate at the Algoma Treatment and Remand Centre:

Four Males were arrested by City Police last evening all charged with Assault Causing Bodily Harm in relation to an assault incident at the Algoma Treatment and Remand Centre. It is alleged that on the 22nd of August the accused persons, while in custody at the Centre, assaulted a fellow inmate in the common area. The victim received non-life threatening injuries as a result. All four males are to appear in bail court this morning.

Charged are:
24 year-old Ron Mitchell of 103 Old Highway 17 North Root River Trailer Park.

32 year-old Kerry Mearow of #3-606 Wellington Street East.

28 year-old Shaun Mearow of #2-61 Wellington Street East.

25 year-old Dylan Jocko of no fixed address.
