Male Charged with Theft Yesterday morning just after 7 am 23-year old Henry Cadreau of 28 Hughes Street was arrested and charged with one count of theft under $5,000 and one count of possession of property obtained by crime.
Male Charged with Theft

Yesterday morning just after 7 am 23-year old Henry Cadreau of 28 Hughes Street was arrested and charged with one count of theft under $5,000 and one count of possession of property obtained by crime. It is alleged that at approximately 6:30 am yesterday the accused stole a computer tower and 2 ball caps from a civic address in the 500 block of Albert Street West and left the area on a bike. The accused was located in the downtown area and arrested without incident. The accused was being held for bail court today. Later in the day officers from Investigation Services charged the accused with two counts of threatening and one count of possession of property obtained by crime. It is alleged that the accused threatened to harm a male and a female who took back a bike it is alleged the accused had stolen. Mr. Cadreau will appear in bail court on all of the charges this morning.

Breach of Probation

A 36-year old male will appear in bail court this morning after being arrested yesterday afternoon in relation to a domestic incident on September 9th. It is alleged that the accused damaged some personal property of his ex-girlfriends when she went to his west end residence to retrieve her belongings. It is alleged that the accused assaulted the victim by pulling her hair and punching her in the head. The victim did seek medical treatment for non-life threatening injuries. The male has been charged with one count of mischief, one count of assault and one count of breach of probation.

Assault with a Weapon

Last evening City Police arrested a 50-year old male and charged him with two counts of assault with a weapon. It is alleged that on September 10th the accused assaulted his ex-girlfriend by holding a knife to her throat and threatened to harm her. It is further alleged that the accused cut the victim’s thumb with a knife. The incident took place in a downtown residence. The accused will appear in court on October 17th.

Possession of Property Obtained by Crime

Yesterday morning City Police arrested 52-year old Domas Balciunas of 66 Capp Avenue and charged him with one count of possession of property obtained by crime. It is alleged that the accused stole a Hilti industrial hammer drill and accessories in a metal box from a worksite in the downtown area. The accused was located on a city bus and arrested and will appear in court on October 17th. The property was returned to the owner.

Male Assaults Police

Last evening 18-year old Nathan Madison of 170 McDouglad Avenue was arrested and charged with a number of offences. It is alleged that the accused operating a motor vehicle and was stopped due to a number of Highway Traffic Act violations. When officer went to issue the accused his tickets it is alleged that the accused became upset and started to yell and swear at the officers. The accused was warned a number of times about his language and failed to heed the warning. The accused was arrested and charged with one count of cause a disturbance by swearing. When officers arrested the accused he resisted arrest and struck one of the officers in the face. The accused was additionally charged with one count of resist arrest and one count of assault police. He will appear in court on October 17th.

Local Store Robbed

Last evening just before 11 pm 3 males attended at the Queen West Variety Store at 602 Queen Street West and robbed the store. It is alleged that the males had a knife and a bat. The lone attendant was assaulted in the incident and was taken to the hospital for treatment of non-life threatening injuries. The only description of these males at this time is that all three were Native Canadian and one was shorter and chubby. City Police are continuing to work on this investigation and further details will be released as they become available. An unknown quantity of cigarettes and money were taken in the incident. Break and Enter

Just before 1 am this morning a male attempted to break into Castle Insurance Ltd. located at 20 Malabar Drive. Persons in the area scared off the thief. The male was wearing dark clothing and gloves and was carrying a pry bar. Entry was not gained.

Motor Vehicle/Pedestrian Accident

Yesterday afternoon around 2:30 pm City Police attended at Queen Street East in front of Algoma University for a motor vehicle/pedestrian accident. 41-year old Miles Kerr-Holden of 238 Lake Street was jogging eastbound on Queen Street East and attempted to jog in front of a pickup truck operated by 20-year old Travis Bouchard of 1052 Wellington Street East. Mr. Bouchard had stopped at a stop sign at Algoma University, looked both ways and started to pull out. It is alleged that as he started to roll onto the roadway and struck the jogger. Mr. Kerr-Holden was taken by ambulance to the hospital for treatment of non-life threatening injuries. Mr. Bouchard has been charged under the Highway Traffic Act of Ontario with one count of fail to yield right of way-pedestrian.

Update

Update to Missing Person Ryan Thompson investigation.
Yesterday afternoon officers from Investigation Services located missing person Ryan Thompson. He was found at a downtown residence and was in good condition. He was turned over to family members.
As a result of the police investigation 48-year old Carl Edward Jackson of 3-224 Huron Street has been charged with one count of obstruct police for providing false information. He will appear in bail court this morning.
