UTTERING FORGED DOCUMENT
On Wednesday, October 8th at 10:10 am, detectives from the Fraud Unit arrested a 17-year-old young person and charged the youth with Uttering a Forged Document and Empty Envelope Fraud.
In mid August the accused, using a false name, convinced another person to deposit a cheque in their account and then withdraw money against the fraudulent deposit. The accused will appear in court in mid November.
SHOES WERE MADE FOR WALKING
On the 8th of October 2003 at 293 Bay Street, Zellers, Sault Ste Marie, the accused Richard James Bouchard, age 18 of 314 Albert Street East allegedly committed theft by putting on a pair of shoes then exiting the store without attempting to pay for them.
The accused was arrested by store security without incident and given into police custody. A police records check revealed that he was wanted on outstanding warrants for theft and possession of stolen property. He was charged with these offences and will appear in court on November 24th.
PURSE STOLEN
Shortly after 9:00 pm last evening an adult female had her purse stolen off her arm, as she waited for a bus in the area of Church Street and Wellington Street.
The victim advised police that a 14 to 15-year-old white male, 5’ 6” tall, weighing 110 to 120 lbs, with a very short brush cut and wearing a black and yellow nylon jacket and blue jeans, walked by her, stole her purse and then ran away in an easterly direction from the intersection.
The victim was not injured in the incident. Patrol officers were able to recover some of the contents of the purse in a yard off Forest Ave.

BREAK IN
The Sault Ste. Marie Police Service was called to investigate one break in yesterday. At 8:30 am yesterday morning a tenant of an apartment on Terry Fox Place advised police that thieves broke in to their apartment and stole a quantity of coins.
