Outstanding Warrant on Assault Charges
32-year old Leo Tremblay of 24 Amherst Street will appear in bail court this morning. Officers arrested the accused on an outstanding warrant from an assault incident in June of this year. It is alleged that on that date the accused assaulted a male known to the accused. It is further alleged that the accused failed to attend court in August in regards to the assault charge. The accused has been charged with one count of assault and one count of fail to appear in court.
Mischief & Robbery
Yesterday morning around 6 am City Police arrested a 24-yearold male and charged him with one count of mischief and two counts of robbery. It is alleged that in the early morning hours of the 1st of November the accused attended at his ex-girlfriends west end residence and stole money from the victim while threatening to harm her. It is further alleged that the accused stole the victims debit card and withdrew money from the account. That prior to leaving the residence with the card it is alleged that the accused again used force on the victim by grabbing her by the wrists. It if further alleged that prior to leaving the victims residence the accused pulled the phone jack out of the wall. The accused will appear in bail court this morning.
Assault & Attempting to Disarm an Officer
49-year old Glen Gummerson of 2-262 Wellington Street West will appear in bail court this morning. Yesterday afternoon officers attended at the accuseds address for a possible disturbance call. After conducting an investigation and determining there was no problem officers went to leave the apartment. It if alleged that at this time the accused indicated to officers that he would use lethal force on anyone he didn’t want in his apartment. It if further alleged that the accused then grabbed one of the officers handgun and attempted to withdraw it from the holster, but was not successful. The accused was taken into custody and has been charged with one count of assault peace officer and one count of attempting to disarm a peace officer.
Break & Enters
1) A home in the 300 block of Albert Street East was entered and a 26-inch Zenith T.V. and a Lazy Boy chair were taken.
2) Last evening a young male broke into Ben R. McMullin School located on Paradise Avenue. Nothing was taken in the incident and the youth left when confronted by cleaning staff. The youth is described as being 5’5” tall, with short brown hair and was wearing a gray jacket with black on the sleeves.
Reminder to Motorists
The Sault Ste. Marie Police Service would like to remind motorists to remember to adjust their driving habits to the road conditions today. Old Man Winter has decided to pay a visit so remember to allow for more stopping time and also clean off your windows and ensure you have good visibility before you drive. Some intersections may become slick depending on the amount of snow that falls and the build up of ice. Also keep in mind the no parking by-law that prohibits parking on all city streets between midnight and 6 am.
