DOMESTIC ASSAULT Yesterday, between 3:00 am and 3:45 am the accused, a 23-year-old male, began a domestic argument with his girlfriend. The argument escalated to physical violence when the accused threatened the victim with a knife.

Yesterday, between 3:00 am and 3:45 am the accused, a 23-year-old male, began a domestic argument with his girlfriend. The argument escalated to physical violence when the accused threatened the victim with a knife.

He then assaulted the victim by pushing her up against a window in their residence and then would not let the victim leave the residence. The victim was eventually able to escape from the residence when the accused said he was going to get a gun.

At 3:47 am patrol officers located the accused outside his hill top residence and arrested and charged him with Assault, Threatening, Forcible Confinement, Assault with a Weapon, and Resist Arrest.The victim received minor injures in the assault.

Once secured in the rear of the police cruiser the accused self-inflicted minor injures to his head by repeatedly bagging it on the security screen in the car. He was treated at hospital for his injures. Officers seized a filet type knife and pellet/bb handgun from the residence. He will appear in bail court today.

SEXUAL OFFENSES
Yesterday morning at 9:30 am, detectives arrested and charged a 39-year-old male from Sault Ste. Marie with numerous sexual offences. The accused, for approximately the past 2 years, had been having forced sexual acts with a young female.

He was also in possession of various child pornography pictures and has been charged with numerous counts of Sexual Assault, Sexual Interference, Invitation to Sexual Touching, Possession of Child Pornography, Importing/Distributing Child Pornography and Printing/Publishing Child Pornography. He will appear in bail court today.

SHOP LIFTING
On October 1st, 2003 the accused, Ronald Marini, age 40 of 224 Wallace Terrace was in No Frills on Second Line West, at which time he took a number of packages of meat and then left the store without paying for them. He was stopped by security outside the store and advised he was under arrest for theft and brought back into the store.

The accused then began to struggle with store security and punched the store security employee.He d then left the store. Yesterday, at 10:34 am patrol officers arrested and charged Marini with Theft, Assault and Escape Custody. He will appear in bail court today.

MORE SHOP LIFTING
On the 3rd of November 2003 the accused Clinton Perrault, age 32 of 421 Wellington Street East stole some groceries from Mac's Mart on Gore Street by removing them from the store without paying for them.

Yesterday, he went to the Mac's Mart on Wellington Street East and took some sandwiches and put them in his pocket and began to leave the store without paying. When a person in the store attempted to stop him from leaving, the person was pushed out of the way.

At 7:43 pm patrol officers arrested and charged him with Theft under $5,000.00 and Robbery. He will appear in bail court today.

THEFT CHARGES
During the summer of 2003, a 15-year-old young person was placed on two probation orders to keep the peace and be good. One of the young persons conditions was to reside in the parental home and be amenable to the rules of the house.

Yesterday, the young person forced their way into a bedroom in the parental home by breaking the doorframe. The youth also stole a small quantity of cash from a family member.

At 10:44 pm patrol officers arrested and charged the youth with Theft, Mischief and two counts of Breach of Probation. The young person will appear in bail court today.

ASSAULT CHARGES
Shortly after 2:00 am this morning patrol officers were called to a residence in the central area of the city where a domestic argument had turned to violence. A 21-year-old male had been arguing with his common-in-law girlfriend when he slapped her in the ear, causing it to bleed.

At 2:27 am patrol officers arrested the accused and charged him with Assault. He will appear in court December 15th.

BREAK IN
The Sault Ste. Marie Police Service investigated one break in yesterday. At about 3:30 am a male intruder entered the downstairs portion of a residence in the 0-100 block of Wellington Street East. The thief then entered an upstairs area where a person was sleeping. When he was questioned as to what he was doing, he left the residence without incident.

The suspect is described as being a male in his late teens early 20's, over 6 feet tall, stocky build with wide shoulders, clean cut with short brush cut style hair dark in colour, wearing a winter jacket, pillow style sleeves with black with gray panels on it. Stolen was a portable Discman.

NASTY WEATHER THIS MORNING
The Sault Ste. Marie Police Service answered over a half dozen weather-relayed calls early this morning. Officers and city work crews were kept busy with trees that had been blown over onto the roadways and service lines in various sections of the city. No injures or serious damage have been attributed to the weather as of yet. Members of the public are reminded not to approach or touch down wires. Any wire could be live and present a serious danger. Please contact the police when you observe down wires.
