Two People To Appear In Bail Court This Morning
1) A 21-year old male was arrested yesterday on outstanding warrants regarding a domestic violence incident from April of this year. It is alleged that on April 20th the accused attended at his girlfriend address and broke into her apartment twice on that date and assaulted the victim as well as threatened her. It is further alleged that the accused threw a beer bottle at the accused. The victim did not require medical treatment. When officers arrested the accused yesterday a small quantity of marijuana was located on the accused. The male has been charged with two counts of break and enter, one count of assault with a weapon, one count of assault, one count of threatening to cause death or bodily harm and one count of possession of a controlled drug or substance.
2) A 13-year old youth was arrested last evening and charged with 5 counts of breach of probation. It is alleged that on 5 occasions the youth failed to abide by a curfew condition, which was part of the youths probation order.
Assault
38-year old Marcel Sutherland of no fixed address was arrested just before midnight and charged with two counts of assault. It is alleged that the accused assaulted two female persons known to the accused by pushing one of them and by pulling the hair of the other. The incident occurred in an east end residence. This was not a domestic related incident. The accused will appear in court on June 26th.
Motor Vehicle Collision
Yesterday afternoon shortly before 4 pm City Police attended at McNabb Street and Great Northern Road for a motor vehicle collision, which sent two people to the hospital for treatment of non-life threatening injuries. A car operated by 19-year old Robert Cranston of 1260 Peoples Road was traveling westbound on McNabb Street. A car operated by 18-year old Robert Dalton of 75 London Street was traveling eastbound on McNabb Street and turned left onto Great Northern Road. The two vehicles collided in the intersection. Mr. Cranston and an 18-year old female passenger in his vehicle were both taken by ambulance to the Sault Area Hospital for treatment. The Cranston vehicle received severe damage and the Dalton vehicle received moderate damage. All persons were wearing their seatbelts at the time of the collision. Mr. Dalton has been charged under the Highway Traffic Act of Ontario with one count of left turn-fail to afford reasonable opportunity to avoid a collision.
Mischief At Instaloan
Just before 1:30 am this morning City Police attended at Instaloans for a broken window. It does not appear that persons actually entered the business.
Video Max Break In
At 3 am this morning City Police attended at Video Max located at 240 Second Line West for a break and enter. Officers stopped a vehicle near the area and have taken on person into custody. The investigation is ongoing and details will be released later today regarding this incident.
