Afternoon release: Two guests staying at the Quality Inn on Bay Street reported that someone broke into their vehicles overnight causing damage to them. Nothing was reported to have been stolen from one vehicle but items were stolen from the other.

Two guests staying at the Quality Inn on Bay Street reported that someone broke into their vehicles overnight causing damage to them.  Nothing was reported to have been stolen from one vehicle but items were stolen from the other.

An individual who was in custody at the Sault Ste. Marie Courthouse has been arrested for two counts of assault police and two counts of breach of probation.  It is alleged that while being escorted from an interview room to a holding cell the accused refused to enter the cell and a struggle ensued resulting in the accused and both officers falling to the floor.  Both officers received non life threatening injuries, one requiring medical attention.  27 year old Ryan Chiblow of Sudbury will be appearing in bail court tomorrow.

A vehicle in the parking lot of 100 James Street had a window smashed out of it overnight.

A purse was reported stolen from a vehicle parked in the 100 block of Summit Avenue overnight.  It is reported that an attempt was made to use a credit card after it was stolen.  The investigation is continuing.

Earlier release:

21 year old Joshua Johnstone of 41 Princeton Drive and 18 year old Taylor Marshall of 574 Placid Ave. were arrested by City Police early yesterday evening. Mr. Johnstone was charged with assault with a weapon and Mr. Marshall was charged with assault causing bodily harm. It is alleged the 2 males were at an east end residence on May 18th when they became involved in an argument with another male at that residence. Mr. Marshall allegedly punched the male victim in the nose which resulted in the victim receiving a broken nose. Mr. Johnstone then hit the victim over the head with a beer bottle. The victim was transported to the hospital and received treatment for his injuries. Joshua Johnstone will be appearing in Provincial Court on June 24th while Taylor Marshall will be appearing in Bail Court later this morning.

A 33 year old male was arrested by City Police officers Wednesday evening and charged with 2 counts of breaching his probation order from a suspended sentence. It is alleged he had an argument with his common law girlfriend while he was on conditions not to molest, harass or annoy her. He was also on conditions to keep the peace. He will be appearing in Bail Court this morning.

A 12 year old boy was charged by City Police with 2 counts of assault and 1 count of assault with a weapon. It is alleged on May 21st he started arguing with a girl that he knew and started punching her in the head and hitting her in the head with his skateboard. He then punched a second young girl in the stomach after she tried to intervene. He will be appearing in Youth Court on June 25th.
