The following three persons will be appearing in bail court today: 1. Christopher Belanger, age 34, of 104 Smale Ave. Mr. Belanger was arrested yesterday afternoon on a warrant for failing to appear for court.
The following three persons will be appearing in bail court today:

1. Christopher Belanger, age 34, of 104 Smale Ave. Mr. Belanger was arrested yesterday afternoon on a warrant for failing to appear for court. It is alleged that the accused failed to appear for court on March 3rd.

2. James Ewart, age 30 of 385 Cathcart St. Apt # 4.City police arrested James Ewart yesterday morning and charged him with one count of failing to appear for identification and one count of failing to appear for court. It is alleged that Mr. Ewart fail to appear for fingerprinting on Feb 3rd, 2008 and also failing to appear for court on February 25th 2008. He was originally arrested on charges of trespass at night and attempt theft under $ 5,000.

3. An 18-year-old male was arrested at a centrally located address yesterday afternoon and charged with one count of assault and one count of assault with a weapon. It is alleged that yesterday afternoon the accused attended at his girlfriends residence at while there assaulted the victim by choking her and grabbing her by the hair. The accused is then alleged to have attempted to cut off her hair with a pair of scissors.

Prohibited Driver

At approx. 11:20 am yesterday morning city police stopped a vehicle on Wellington St. E. Upon investigating the driver the officers discovered that he was prohibited driver. As a result Michael Bjornaa, age 23, of 634 Wellington St. E was charged with one count of drive while prohibited. Mr. Bjornaa will be appearing in court on April14th at 9:00 am.

Forged Prescription

Allen Carey, age 43 of 864 Queen St. E. apt# 30 was arrested yesterday afternoon and charged with one count of uttering a forged document. It is alleged that the accused attended at the Rexall on Feb 29th and passed a forged prescription to the pharmacist. Mr. Carey will be appearing in court on April 14th at 9:00 am.

Possession of Stolen Property

Adam Shewchuk, age 24, of 36 Nichol St. was arrested yesterday and charged with one count of possession of stolen property and two counts of fraud. It is alleged that on January 4th 2008 the accused attended at the Royal Bank on Wellington St. W. and deposited a stolen cheque into an account. It is further alleged that on January 27th 2008 the accused deposited an empty envelope into an account and withdrew money from that account. The accused will be appearing in court on April 14th at 9:00 am

City police received three reports of thefts from vehicles yesterday.

Culprits stole a briefcase and a backpack from a vehicle parked in the 100 block of Hamilton Ave. A vehicle parked in the 100 block of Laird St. was entered - it is unknown at this time what was taken. A pickup truck parked in the 100 block of Churchill Ave was entered and an “Otter” portable ice fishing hut was taken.

City police received two reports of mischief overnight.

A vehicle parked in the 200 block of Meadow Park Cres.
was egged last night. The second mischief complaint was that vehicle parked in the 1300 block of Great Northern Rd. had a tire slashed.

The Sault Ste Marie Police Service investigated one report of a beak and enter overnight.

A residence in the 100 block of Dufferin St. was entered. Suspects stole a small quantity of cash. Included in the stolen money were old dollar Canadian bills. This incident occurred between 10:00 am and 4:00 pm. Anyone receiving any older money is requested to contact the city police.
