The following persons will appear in bail court this morning:
1) 21-year old Donna Purvis of 2-413 Albert Street West was arrested yesterday afternoon on outstanding warrants. The accused was wanted for one count of fail to attend for fingerprints, two counts of fail to attend court, one count of assault and one count of assault causing bodily harm. The two assault charges stem from 2006 and neither occurrence in a domestic related matter.
2) A 43-year old male was arrested yesterday morning and charged with five counts of breach of a release order. The accused was on release documents with conditions not to attend at his girlfriend’s address, not to communicate with her as well as not to consume alcohol. It is alleged that the accused violated several of this conditions on February 24th and February 28th. Officers attended at the girlfriend’s address and located the accused hiding in the residence.
3) 21-year old Jeffery Fleming of 1953 Base Line was arrested yesterday afternoon and charged with one count of careless storage of a firearm. Yesterday afternoon officers responded to the address after receiving a report of a gun having been fired in the residence. Officers seized 13 long guns and a large quantity of ammunition that were unsafely stored.
4) Last evening just after 8 pm officers from the Joint Forces Drug Unit, which is comprised of officers from the Sault Ste. Marie Police Service, the OPP Drug Enforcement Section, the RCMP and the OPP North East Region, executed a drug warrant at 320 Pim Street. Officers located two syringes with what is alleged to be liquid cocaine in them as well as trace amounts of cocaine. Officers also located digital scales and just over $1400 in cash. The accused was on a release document with conditions not to possess any non-prescription drugs. 49-year old James Gilbert of 320 Pim Street has been charged with one count of trafficking in a controlled drug or substance, one count of possession of a controlled drug or substance and one count of a breach of a release order.
There were no break and enters reported in the last 24 hour period.

The Sault Ste. Marie Police Service would like to remind motorist to be prepared to adjust their driving in light of the storm that may hit our City later today. Visibility may be reduced due to drifting and blowing snow caused by high winds. Ensure your headlights are on if you do not have daytime running lights. Slow down and allow yourself a little extra stopping time once the snow starts to fall.
