ARRESTED AT THE BORDER On May 23rd, 2003 the accused, John Decaire, age 34 of Queen St East, # 200 was in possession of a quantity of US coins consisting of quarters, half dollars and dollars that did not belong to him.
ARRESTED AT THE BORDER
On May 23rd, 2003 the accused, John Decaire, age 34 of Queen St East, # 200 was in possession of a quantity of US coins consisting of quarters, half dollars and dollars that did not belong to him.

United States Customs had checked the accused when he was attempting to cross the border to exchange the coins. He was denied entry into the United States and was returned to Canada where he was meet by Sault Ste. Marie Police Service Patrol Officers.

An investigation into the incident revealed the coins had been stolen in the fall of 2002. Detectives from the Investigation Services Section of the Police Service arrested and charged the accused with Possession of Stolen Property on June 4th at 2:20 pm. He will appear in court on July 7th.


MAN ASSAULTS SISTER & FATHER
Yesterday, in the early afternoon, a 22-year-old male from the city's west end assaulted his twenty-four-year-old sister by pushing her down and banging her head against a wall.

The accused then assaulted his father by punching him in the face. The father received a cut to his mouth and the sister received minor injuries.

At 3:45 pm, officers were called to the west end residence and arrested and charged the accused with Assault. He will appear in court on July 7th.


IMPAIRED DRIVER HITS A&W DRIVE THRU WINDOW
Yesterday at approximately 10:18 pm, the accused, Alexander MacDonald, age 39 of 86 Tilley Road, was driving his Chevrolet truck in the A&W drive thru when he hit the window.

He then backed up and got his food in a very intoxicated condition. When leaving he struck the building with the right side of the truck causing minor damage.

The accused was located at his residence and at 10:22 pm. Patrol officers arrested and charged the accused with Impaired Driving and Driving over .08. He will appear in court on July 14th.


BREAK & ENTER ARRESTS
Yesterday. shortly before midnight, it is alleged that Cory Niganobe, age 25 of 108 Weldon Avenue and Roger Neyland, age 23 of 26 Hughes Street stole a 1992 Dodge mini van from a residence in the area of Queen Street East and Shannon Road.

The accused then allegedly broke into the Child Care Algoma building at 1600 Queen Street East and stole property, including a laptop computer. Witnesses observed the males running from the area and then driving away from the scene.

Early today, at approximately 12:30 am, officers from the Ontario Provincial Police arrested both accused east of the city limits. Neyland has been charged with Break and Enter and Theft, Possession of Stolen Property and Theft of a Motor Vehicle.

Niganobe was charged with Break and Enter and Theft, Possession of Stolen Property and Theft of a Motor Vehicle.

In addition, outstanding arrest warrants for the charges of Assault, Mischief, Breach of Undertaking and two counts of Failing to Appear were executed on Niganobe. Both will appear in bail court today.


BREAK & ENTERS
The Sault Ste. Marie Police Service investigated two other break-ins yesterday. In both cases thieves entered homes that were under construction and stole tools from the partially completed buildings.

One home was located in the Mill Creek Drive area and the other in the Bruce Street hill top area. These occurrences are under investigation and anyone with information about them is asked to contact the Sault Ste. Marie Police Service at 949-6300 or Crime Stoppers.


SAFETY PATROLLERS BARBEQUE
Yesterday afternoon and evening, the Sault Ste. Marie Safety Patrollers Association and Rome's Independent Grocers held a charity barbeque in support of the Safety Patrollers.

The feature exhibit of the barbeque was the Kellogg's Vector Cereals racecar. Members of the public were able to sit in the race car and have their picture taken. A special visit from Elmer the Safety Elephant, assisted by members of the Kinsmen Club capped of the event.

The Sault Ste. Marie Police Service and the Patrollers Association wish to thank the generous sponsorship of Rome's Independent Grocers and the Kellogg's Vector Cereals race crew for raising $800.00 for the Safety Patrollers.
