On the 12th of June 2014 at 8:00am the TBooth business at the Station Mall at 293 Bay Street was broken into. Items taken include three laptop computers. The investigation is ongoing.

On the 12th of June 2014 police attended Bay Street regarding a theft complaint.  24 year old Samantha Dunlop of Douglas Street was arrested for stealing a pack of cigarettes valued at $10 out of a vehicle.  She was caught be the vehicle owner and held for police.  The property was returned to the owner and the accused will appear in court on 14th of July 2014 to answer to the theft charge.

On the 11th of June just after 6 p.m., city police attended at an address on Douglas Street for a break and enter. The break in had occurred during the daytime hours. Items taken include a laptop, coins and prescription medication.

On June 11, 2014 Sault Ste. Marie police arrested a young person for theft under $5000 X 2 and mischief under $5000. It is alleged that in the past two weeks the accused, age 13, took two I-PODS from a local fitness center. The accused destroyed one of the I-PODS but was found in possession of the second one. The accused will appear in court on July 15 at 9:30 a.m. 

On June 11, 2014 police responded to a domestic related incident. It is alleged that an accused male, age 39, had contacted his ex-girlfriend on June 5, 6, 10 and 11 of June 2014 and left messages on her answering service. The accused is currently on a recognizance and 2 separate probation orders with conditions not to communicate, not to molest harass or physically interfere with the victim and keep the peace and be of good behavior. The victim further alleged that between February 19, 2014 and May 11, 2014 the accused assaulted her on two occasions. The accused is charged with assault X 2, breach of probation X 10 and breach of recognizance X 2. The accused will appear in bail court on June 12, 2014 at 10 a.m. 

On June 11, 2014, police observed two males walking on Huron Street near Albert Street. A check of the accused revealed that the accused was on conditions not to communicate with the second male. The accused was arrested and during the search of the accused he was found to be in possession of a prohibited weapon. The accused Anthony Adam Cadreau age 31, of Gore Street is charged with breach of undertaking and possession of a prohibited weapon. The accused will appear in bail court on June 12, 2014 at 10 a.m. 

On June 12, 2014 at approximately 12:38 a.m., officers were dispatched to the 200 block of Wellington Street West regarding a suspicious vehicle. Officers found drug paraphernalia outside of the driver’s side window. Further investigation revealed the driver to be in possession of drugs (fentanyl patches). The accused Diane Marie Duguay, age 51 of Trunk Road, was arrested for possession of a controlled substance. The accused will appear in court on July 7, 2014 at 9 a.m.

An arrest has been made in a robbery from 2007 using DNA evidence that was collected at the scene at the time of the incident.

Officers investigating this robbery in 2007 located a balaclava near the scene. The item was submitted to the Centre of Forensic Sciences for DNA analysis. At that time a profile was created but there was no match. 

In the fall of 2013 the National DNA Databank notified the Sault Ste. Marie Police Service that they had made a positive hit in relation to the DNA submitted from the robbery.

As a result of this a warrant for one count of robbery was requested for 28-year-old Jean-Claude Paquette of Queen Street, Sault Ste. Marie. The accused turned himself in this morning and will appear in bail court.
