YOUTHS DAMAGED APARTMENT BUILDING
Yesterday, the accused, two 14-year-old males were observed leaving the rear of an empty apartment complex in the city's west end. Both parties were reported as missing at the time of the incident and both were on Probation Orders to keep the peace and be good.

The apartment complex is a secured building with no tenants. A check of the complex by patrol officers revealed damage to several apartments. The damage consisted of holes in the walls, broken door locks, damaged light fixtures and discharged fire extinguishers.

At 1:48 pm, patrol officers arrested and charged both young offenders with Break and Enter, Mischief and Breach of Probation. They will appear in bail court today.


CHARGED WITH HARASSING FEMALE
On June 2nd, an inmate at the District Jail forwarded two letters to a female that he was on probation not to molest, harass or annoy. The letters, which bothered the female, breached the terms of the male's probation.

On June 11th at 3:05 pm, detectives charged the male with two counts of Breach of Probation. These charges will be heard in court on June 25th.


YOUTH ARRESTED IN HOME
Yesterday at approximately 1:50 pm, the accused a 17-year-old male, broke into a home on Wemyss Street. Once in the home, the accused broke the alarm system by pulling it off the wall.

A search of the home and area by police at this time was unsuccessful in locating the accused. Later in the day, at approximately 6:20 pm, the accused broke into the same home again and stole a quantity of jewellery.

The occupants of the home notified police that someone was in the home and a search of the residence revealed the youth to be hiding in the basement. At 6:44 pm, patrol officers arrested and charged the youth with Break and Enter, Mischief and Breach of Probation. He will appear in bail court today.


SECOND ASSAILANT ARRESTED
On May 18, 2003 at approximately 11:30 pm, a 42-year-old male went to an apartment on Albert Street West to get a change of clothes. While he was at the apartment building, he was told that a male individual was just there looking for him.

The victim went outside where a male standing on the curb asked him to come over and talk to him. The victim and this male had an argument. Another male came up from behind and hit the victim with a pipe or a bat over the head. The attackers fled the scene.

The victim received a 5-inch gash to his head. Police were notified and the victim was transported to the Sault Area Hospital for medical treatment.

An investigation was commenced and on May 22nd at 10:06 pm, patrol officers arrested and charged Luke Ralph, age 28 of 702 Second Line West, Apt #1 with Aggravated Assault. He will appear in bail court today.

Early today, at 2:47 am, patrol officers concluded the investigation into this assault when they executed an arrest warrant on Donald Corey, age 31 of 201 John St. Main floor, for Aggravated Assault. He will appear in court on July 21st.


CONFECTIONARY STORE ROBBED
Early today, at 3:27 am, a young male went into a confectionary store in the city's downtown area with a pipe wrench intending to rob the store. The male, who was wearing a bandana to cover his face, demanded money and cigarettes from the clerk as he threatened the clerk with the wrench. No injuries were reported in the incident.

The male fled the scene on foot with a small quantity of cash and cigarettes. At 4:50 am Patrol Officers were able to locate the male on a stolen mountain bike near the water tower. The male, a 15 year old, was accompanied by a 16-year-old female.

Patrol officers arrested both young offenders and recovered a small quantity of cash and cigarettes. The male is charged with Robbery, Use of a Disguise, Possession of Stolen Property. The female is charged with two counts of Possession of Stolen Property. The investigation is continuing and it is anticipated that the youths will appear in court today.


BREAK & ENTERS
The Sault Ste. Marie Police Service investigated several break-ins yesterday, including the two to the home on Wemyss Street where the young offender was charged.

At 10:00 am, a homeowner on Henry Street advised police that thieves broke into his shed and stole a chainsaw and several other items.

At 10:24 am police were called to the Northern Traditions Store in Station Mall where thieves were unsuccessful at breaking into the store.

At 6:30 pm, a homeowner in the 900 block of Wellington Street East advised police that someone had tried to break into his home but was unsuccessful.
