Male arrested for theft and assault with a weapon Early this morning members of the Sault Ste. Marie Police Service arrested a 49-year-old male for theft under and assault with a weapon.

Early this morning members of the Sault Ste. Marie Police Service arrested a 49-year-old male for theft under and assault with a weapon. It is alleged that on June 27th the accused was seen stealing meat items, valued at $37.69, from Rome’s Independent Grocers, 44 Great Northern Rd. Once outside the store the accused was confronted by store security at which time the accused turned over the meat items. It is further alleged that the accused then threatened the security officer with a chain prior to fleeing the scene. Robert Wilson, age 49, of 142 Albert St. E is charged with one count of theft under $5,000 and one count of assault with a weapon.

Youth arrested for prowl by night, resist arrest, carrying a concealed weapon and obstruct police
At 1:25 am this morning members of the Sault Ste. Marie Police Service arrested a 15-year-old male for prowl by night. It is alleged that at 1:25 am this morning two youths were seen attempting to break into a vehicle in the 500 block of Third Line E. It is further alleged that when this accused person was apprehended he resisted arrest. It is further alleged that when searched by police the accused person was found to be carrying a knife – under his clothing. The accused is also alleged to have obstructed police by giving false information.

At the time of these offences the accused was on a probation order release. The youth is charged with one count of prowl by night, one count of resist arrest, one count of obstruct police, one count of carry a concealed weapon and one count of breach of probation.

At 3:15 am this morning members of the Sault Ste. Marie Police Service arrested a 15-year-old male for prowl by night. It is alleged that at 1:25 am this morning this accused along with another male were attempting to break into a vehicle in the 500 block of Third Line E. The accused fled the scene when the homeowner attended at the vehicle. The Sault Ste Marie Police, with the assistance of the O.P.P. canine unit, were able to track the accused person to his residence. The youth is charged with one count of prowl by night.

Break and enter
A break and enter was reported in the 700 block of Queen St. E. Electronics and some cash was reported stolen.

Mischief
Two vehicles parked in the Station Mall were reported damaged yesterday.

A fence was damaged at a residence in the 100 block of Palomino Dr.

Theft
Electronic were stolen from a vehicle parked in the 600 block of Great Northern Rd.
A bicycle was reported stolen from the 100 block of Gore St.

The Sault Ste. Marie Police Service Community Services Office is offering free bicycle registration. Bicycles can be registered Monday to Friday from 8:30 am and 3:00 pm. Please call ahead at 705-949-6300 Ext 334.
