On the morning of July 30, 2015 patrol officers responded to a report of a break and enter to a business in the 300 block of Queen Street East. Sometime overnight persons forced entry into the building by breaking a side window.

On the morning of July 30, 2015 patrol officers travelled to Sudbury to arrest and return a young person wanted on warrants in connection with a sexual assault. It is alleged that in May of this year the young person was visiting Sault Ste. Marie and sexually assaulted a female known to him. He will be appearing in Bail Court July 30, 2015.

On July 30, 2015, as a result of an ongoing investigation, patrol officers located and arrested 50-year-old Warren Betty of Arizona Ave. for theft over $5,000 and possession of stolen property. It is alleged that on July 14, 2015, Betty attended a business on McNabb Street and stole a boat and trailer from the property valued at $10,735. He was later found to be in possession of the boat. He will be appearing in court August 31, 2015.

Update to robbery on Wellington West

Officers from Investigation Services are continuing to work on this robbery.

The description for the two male suspects is as follows:

Suspect 1 is a Caucasian male, approximately 5 feet 11 inches and appeared to be in good shape.  He was wearing a white t-shirt and had a buzz cut.

Suspect 2 is a male with dark skin, 5 feet 8 inches tall with a medium build.  He was wearing black nylon jogging pants, a dark blue hoody and glove.  He had longer hair, possibly as long as shoulder length and had the hoodie done up around his head at the time of the robbery.

Both males appeared to be between 25 to 30 years of age.

On July 29 a homeowner on Sherbourne Street reported an attempt break and enter to the residence.

On July 30 just after 3:30 a.m., a homeowner on Admiral Drive called city police to report a male was attempting to break into the residence. The homeowner chased the male away. Entry was not gained and there was no damage to the residence. The only description for the suspect is that the male was wearing either a brown or green shirt.

Sometime between July 28 at 5 p.m. and July 29 at 7 a.m. unknown persons attended at the Bud Robinson’s repair shop located at 145 Industrial Court B 5B and stole a brand new 2016 Kawasaki Mule. This four wheeled ATV is camouflage in colour. The ATV did not have the steering wheel, bench seat or roll bars installed. The ATV is valued at $10,000.

On July 29, 2015, officers from the Drug Enforcement Unit located and arrested 24-year-old Jody Edwards of no fixed address who was wanted on warrants. It is alleged that on July 20, 2015 the accused attended a Station Mall store and concealed a baseball hat fleeing the store without paying for the item. The accused has been charged with theft, breach of probation and breach of his conditional sentence order. The accused will appear in bail court this morning.  Investigations into further allegations of thefts against the accused are continuing and further charges are expected.

On July 29, 2015, officers from the Drug Enforcement Unit located and arrested 30-year-old Chico Rubiano of Ferguson Avenue who was wanted on warrants. It is alleged that on July 7, 2015 the accused broke into a residence in the 100 block of Shannon Road. Once inside the accused ransacked the home and stole various items including guitars, a laptop, jewellery, and medication. The accused is also on a bail recognizance with a condition to notify any change in his address which he failed to do. The accused has been charged with break enter and theft and breach of recognizance. He will appear in bail court this morning.

On July 29, 2015 at 3:26 p.m., an elderly man was entering the rear door of his apartment building in the 200 block of Albert Street East when an unknown female attacked him from behind grabbing for his wallet in his pants pocket. The victim and accused struggled as the male attempted to stop this female. The accused was able to reached into the victim's pocket remove his wallet and steal his money before fleeing on foot leaving her sandals behind. As a result of the altercation the victim received minor injuries to his left elbow and arm area. The investigation is ongoing. The suspect description is a white female approximately 5'7" to 5'10", in her 20's, slim build wearing dark pants and a dark hat.

On July 29, 2015 at 10:40 p.m., the 53-year-old male victim was at his residence located on Wellington Street West. At this time two unknown males in their 30s knocked at the door. When the victim went to answer the two accused pushed their way in to the home and pushed the victim to the ground. One of the accused put a gun to the victims head and threatened his life. The accused stole cigarettes and a small amount of cash and then fled on foot. The area was contained while Emergency Services Officers, Patrol Officers, as well as OPP K9 and ERT officers all assisted in a search for the accused persons with negative results. The victim was not injured and the investigation is ongoing.
