21 year old Matthew Hart of 29 Clearview Drive was arrested and charged with one count of arson.

21 year old Matthew Hart of 29 Clearview Drive was arrested and charged with one count of arson.  It is alleged that in June of 2011 the accused started a fire in a carport of a home in the north end of the city that resulted in the house catching fire.  The accused will appear in court on August 27th.

A quantity of copper wire was reported stolen from a business on Northern Avenue.  The total estimated value of the wire is $4500.

A residence was reported broken into in the 100 block of John St.  It is unknown what was taken.

A chainsaw was reported stolen from a residence in the 200 block of Carmen’s Way.

Solar lights were reported smashed at a residence in the 500 block of Second Line West.

A Picnic table was reported thrown into a pool in the 100 block of Wilding Avenue.

Flower gardens were reported destroyed in the 900 block of North St.

Yesterday morning officers were called to a disturbance on Edinburgh Street.  An altercation occurred between a number of individuals resulting in two persons going to the hospital with non life threatening injuries.  Tyler John Taylor, age 21 will be appearing in bail court charged with two counts of assault with a weapon, two counts of possession of a weapon for a dangerous purpose, one count of assault causing bodily harm, and three counts of breach of a recognizance.

Police responded to a single motor vehicle collision on MacDonald Avenue at approximately 7:00 yesterday morning.  A west bound vehicle left the road and collided with a PUC pole.  The driver received minor injuries that did not require medical attention.  Damage to the vehicle was reported to be extensive.  As a result of the investigation into this incident, 42 year old David Matiland of 379 Lake Street was charged with impaired operation of a motor vehicle. He will appear in court on August 27th.
