Yesterday morning, City Police patrol officers investigated an attempt to break into a home on Hamilton Avenue. An unknown person smashed the security lights then tried to pry open the back door but was unable to gain entry because of a dead bolt lock. The culprit then fled the area.

VAN ROLLS IN ACCIDENT
Last evening at 5:31, City Police investigated an accident on Great Northern Road at the Fifth Line. Ilse Jancke, age 72, of 373 Landslide Road, was driving her 1990 Buick Lesabre east on Fifth Line. She stopped for the stop sign at Great Northern Road then proceeded into the intersection where she struck a northbound 1988 Plymouth van driven by Sherrie Miceli-Riggins, age 37, of 212 Byes Side Road, Goulais River.

The impact caused the van to roll over and come to rest in the east ditch. Miceli-Riggins received minor injuries and was taken to hospital by ambulance. The Jancke vehicle received light damage while the Miceli-Riggins van was severely damaged. Jancke was ch
