On July 23, 2015 at approximately 7:16 a.m. city police responded to the area of Sutton Place regarding a possible impaired driver. On attending it is alleged that officers found a male subject behind the wheel of a vehicle, with the engine running.

On July 23, 2015 at approximately 7:16 a.m. city police responded to the area of Sutton Place regarding a possible impaired driver. On attending it is alleged that officers found a male subject behind the wheel of a vehicle, with the engine running. A roadside test was done and the male failed the test. Police arrested the accused Sulaiman Saad Alhassan, age 28, for having care and control of a motor vehicle while having more than 80 mg of alcohol in his blood. The accused is scheduled to appear in court on August 24, 2015 at 9 a.m.

On July 23, 2015 Alexander Joseph Gingras, age 60 turned himself in at the City Police Service regarding outstanding warrants for threatening and failing to attend court. The accused was arrested and will appear in court on August 10, 2015 at 9 a.m.

City police attended to the Sault Area Hospital on July 22 after receiving a domestic complaint. Further investigation led officers to arrest a 32-year-old male on multiple charges. The accused and female victim were at the hospital receiving treatment. It is alleged that on the 21st of July the accused texted and called the victim several times while being on conditions not to contact or harass her. It is further alleged that the accused broke into the victim’s residence on the 22nd of July, assaulted her, damaged her cell phone and would not let her leave her residence. As a result he was charged with breaching conditions of 3 separate release documents he was on, break and enter, assault, forcible confinement and mischief. He will be appearing in Bail Court July 23.

On July 23 Blind River OPP contacted Sault Ste Marie Police advising they were dealing with a 37-year-old male who was wanted by the city police on an outstanding domestic related warrant from 2011. As a result officers met with OPP officers in Desbarats where they took the male into custody from the OPP and transported him back to the Sault. The accused was charged with breaching three conditions of a probation order which prohibited him from contacting the victim, harassing her and failing to keep the peace. He will be appearing in Bail Court July 23.
