FORCIBLE CONFINEMENT & ASSAULT Yesterday at 2:10 p.m., officers from the Sault Ste Marie Police Service were called to an address in the 400 block of Albert Street West and arrested a 51-year-old male for assault and forcible confinement.

Yesterday at 2:10 p.m., officers from the Sault Ste Marie Police Service were called to an address in the 400 block of Albert Street West and arrested a 51-year-old male for assault and forcible confinement.

It is alleged that he assaulted a female by punching and pushing her. He then bound her hands and legs and covered her mouth with duct tape. The female and male are known to one another. The male will be appearing in bail court today at 1:30 p.m.


CITIZENS HELP NAB SUSPECTED THIEVES
Early this morning, at approximately 2:40 a.m. citizens on Kohler Street called police in regards to two males breaking into vehicles. Upon arrival, police discovered that two vehicles had been entered and that their stereos had been stolen. Officers were unable to locate the suspects.

At 3:25 a.m. citizens on Breton Road called police in regards to two males trying to enter vehicles. Police officers, with the assistance of the Canine Unit, arrested two males that were hiding in the area.

Arrested were Calvin Doherty, age 21, of no fixed address and a 17-year-old male. They are both charged with Possession of Break-in Tools, Possession of Stolen Property, two counts of Theft Under $5000, four counts of Mischief, and Breach of Undertaking.

Both will be appearing in Bail Court today. The City Police wish to thank the citizens that assisted in making these arrests possible.

In other news, there were two other reports of mischief to vehicles yesterday. One was in the 100 block of Bristol Place and the other in the 100 block of Eastern Avenue.


BREAK & ENTER
The City police Service was notified of a break and enter to a residence in the 100 block of Walnut Street and an attempted entry to a business in the 700 block of John Street yesterday. It is not known what was taken.

Two more purses were reported stolen from unlocked vehicles early yesterday evening. These thefts were from two vehicles parked in the area of Fourth Line East and Great Northern Road. If you saw any suspicious persons loitering around cars at that location, you are asked to contact City Police.


IMPAIRED CHARGE
At 11:25 p.m. yesterday, police were called to investigate a motor vehicle collision on Trunk Road. Upon the officer's arrival they discovered that one of the drivers, Walter Schoch, had failed to yield to traffic when turning left.

It was further noticed that Mr. Schoch was under the influence of alcohol. Charged with Impaired Driving and Driving over 80 mgs. is Walter Schoch, age 46 of 3905 Queen Street East. He will be appearing in court on Aug. 18.

The second driver, Tammy Waboose, age 33, of Gran Street was not injured in the accident.
