IMPAIRED DRIVING CHARGE A motor vehicle accident this morning at 12:55 a.m. resulted in an impaired driving charge.

IMPAIRED DRIVING CHARGE
A motor vehicle accident this morning at 12:55 a.m. resulted in an impaired driving charge. Patrol Officers attended in the 600 block of Wellington Street West where a car struck a utility pole while attempting to turn into a driveway.

The driver of the car, Michael Luzzi, age 42 of 543 Morrison Ave. has been charged with Impaired Driving and Driving over.08. No injuries were reported. He will appear in court on Feb. 9th.

ASSAULT CHARGE
Yesterday afternoon Detectives arrested and charged a 37-year-old male with assault as a result of an incident involving his 13-year-old son. The incident is alleged to have occurred in late December. This local resident is scheduled to appear in court in early February.

MONEY STOLEN AT ATM
Yesterday afternoon at approximately 1pm, a 61year old male, after having made a withdrawal from an ATM machine at the Cambrian Mall, had his money stolen. The disabled victim had withdrawn a small amount of cash and was then approached by a male person who took the money from his jacket. The investigation is continuing.

BREAK & ENTERS
A break and enter was reported yesterday morning to Show Stoppers located in the 700 block of Queen Street East. It is not known what was taken from this business at this time.

Officers were also called to The Thymely Manner Restaurant on Albert St. shortly after 3:00 this morning. They found that the building had been broken into and a small amount of cash had been taken. Anyone with information on these incidents is asked to contact the Sault Ste. Marie Police Service or Crime Stoppers.

OUTSTANDING WARRANTS
Matthew Barnes, age 22 of 282 Kingsford Rd. will appear in bail court this morning. At 3:59 am Barnes was arrested on outstanding warrant from an investigation conducted in June of last year. Charges stemming from that investigation included possession of stolen property, possession of a controlled substance, possession of a controlled substance for the purpose of trafficking. There are also 5 counts of breaching his undertaking.
