Yesterday News Release: Last evening the Sault Ste. Marie Police Service was advised that 51-year old Anita Proulx of Carufel Avenue passed away on January 3rd due to injuries received in a motor vehicle collision on November 25th, 2005.

Last evening the Sault Ste. Marie Police Service was advised that 51-year old Anita Proulx of Carufel Avenue passed away on January 3rd due to injuries received in a motor vehicle collision on November 25th, 2005.

It is alleged that on that date Mrs. Proulx had been operating a Ford Minivan on Second Line West in the 300 block when it was struck by a pickup truck operated by 41-year old Clayton Lapensee of 62 Arden Street which allegedly crossed the centre line, struck a pickup truck and then struck the Proulx vehicle. The Proulx vehicle then struck another pickup truck.

Mr. Lapensee was arrested on the 25th of November and charged with one count of impaired driving causing injury, one count of consume over the legal limit, one count of fail to remain at an accident and one count of public mischief. Mr. Lapensee had been sent to bail court on November 26th. He now has a court date of January 16th, 2006.

UPDATE:

Yesterday afternoon City Police Officers arrested 42-year old Clayton Lapensee of 62 Arden Street and charged him with one count of impaired driving causing death. Mr. Lapensee will appear in bail court this morning.


Three Males will Appearing in Bail Court

46-year old Kevin Edwards of RR #1 Bruce Mines was arrested yesterday morning by officers from Investigation Services and charged with one count of public mischief and one count of obstruct police. It is alleged that the accused called the City Police on the 16th of December and falsely reported that another person had breached their release conditions. This phone call caused officers to investigate the false allegation. It is further alleged that the accused provided a name, other than his own, while calling the City Police with the false information.

20-year old Jeffrey Godson-Roy of 4-120 Church Street was arrested just after midnight. During routine patrol officers had occasion to check the accused and learned that he was wanted on warrants for two counts of theft under $5,000, two counts of possession of property obtained by crime and two counts of breach of probation. When officers searched the accused they found a knife that opened with a push of a button, which is a prohibited weapon. The accused was further charged with one count of unauthorized possession of a weapon and one count of breach of probation for failing to keep the peace and be good.

A 45-year old male was arrested just before 9 pm last night. It is alleged that last evening the accused and his common-law boyfriend got into an argument at their centrally located residence. It is further alleged that the accused swung a knife at the victim twice and also threatening to kill the victim. The victim did not receive any injuries. The accused has been charged with one count of assault and one count of threatening to cause death or bodily harm.

Robbery Investigation Continues

City Police are continuing their investigation into a robbery that occurred at the Sears Store yesterday afternoon shortly after 1 pm. It is alleged that a male was in the store and alleged placed three bottles of cologne in his jacket. A member of the store security staff observed this. The male left Sears and was approached by the security officer outside in the mall area. When the security officer advised the accused he was under arrest for shoplifting the male allegedly resisted and started to repeatedly punch the security officer in the head. The male fled the area on foot. The male is described as being a white male, wearing a teal blue, white and orange jacket, jeans a tan baseball cap, had dark hair and was bowed legged. The security officers did not require medical treatment at the time for the injuries received. If you know who this male, or if you witnessed the incident, contact City Police at 949-6300. Break and Enter

Last evening between 6:30 pm and 9:30 pm a home in the 200 block of Greenfield Drive was broke into. A piggy bank and several crystal figurines were taken.
