MAN ARRESTED FOR SEXUAL ASSAULT
Detectives from the Investigation Services Section completed a dated sexual assault investigation yesterday. Between the January 1, 2000 and the May 29, 2000, Kelly Raymond age 36 of 151 Woodward Avenue allegedly and repeatedly sexually assaulted and sexually interfered with a female victim.

The incidents took place in the city of Sault Ste. Marie. Yesterday at 5:55 pm Detectives arrested and charged Raymond with Sexual Assault and Sexual Interference. He will appear in bail court today.


ATTEMPTED PURSE SNATCHING
On Tuesday of this week, at approximately 6:00 pm, a 48-year-old female was coming out of the Northern Credit Union at 612 Second Line West when she was approached by an unknown male. This male asked her for change. While he was speaking with her another male came up from behind her and attempted to grab the purse off her arm.

The victim's daughter, who was sitting in the car, got out of the vehicle and ran towards the two males. The daughter was able to grab hold of the male that had grabbed the purse and who had fallen to the ground. The male got up and ran along the east side of the Credit Union towards the rear of the building.

The male who attempted to get the purse was described as being 5'10", very thin, wearing a white hooded ski jacket, brown toque with black lettering, glasses, baggy light blue jeans, approx. 14-16 years old. A female from across the street witnessed the incident.

Officers were able to identify the young males and at 9:39 pm and 11:50 pm arrested and charged two 16-year-old young offenders with Attempted Robbery. They will appear in Bail Court today.


IMPAIRED DRIVER ARRESTED
At 2:45 am this morning, patrol officers stopped a suspected impaired driver at Chambers Avenue and Denwood Drive.

After the driver, identified as David Bourdeau, age 24 of 122 Birchwood Dr. failed the roadside screen device; he was arrested for driving over .08. He was brought to the police services building and charged with this offence. He will appear in court on March 3rd.


IMPAIRED DRIVER ARRESTED
Early today, at 3:55 am, patrol officers stopped and checked a 1983 Buick Lesabre being driven on Willow Avenue by James Laplante, age 38 of 51 Eastern Avenue.

The Officers formed the reasonable grounds to believe the males' ability to drive was impaired by alcohol and arrested him for Impaired Driving and Driving over .08. After completing his breath tests, Laplante was charged with these offences and will appear in court March 10th.


TRAFFIC ACCIDENTS
Since yesterday morning the Police Service investigated 9 motor vehicle collisions. Most were of a very minor nature.
