DRIVER CHARGE WITH IMPAIRED
Yesterday at approximately 5:07 pm Lorne Lafleur, age 60 of 272 Wellington Street East was on Albert Street West where he was operating his 1995 Chrysler motor vehicle while his ability to do so was impaired by alcohol. At this time, Lafleur's vehicle was involved in a minor motor vehicle collision with another car.

The Lafleur vehicle was east bound on Albert Street Wets when it rear-ended a 1999 Chevrolet car as it was slowing for a red light at Albert and Andrew Street. Ian McLurg, age 58 of Pine Island, was driving the Chevrolet. Due to his impairment, it is alleged that Lafleur left the scene to avoid prosecution.

At approximately 5:15 pm, patrol officers attended at the residence of Lafleur where he was arrested and charged with impaired operation of a motor vehicle and failing to remain at the scene of an accident. He will appear in court on Feb. 24th.

RASH OF ACCIDENTS
The Police Service investigated 17 motor vehicle collisions yesterday. Most were of a minor nature and did not involve injuries. Interesting, 14 of the 17 collisions occurred between 1:30 pm and 5:30 pm. The public is reminded to drive according to road conditions and use extra care when driving. Expect extra delays when traveling around the city because of winter driving conditions and slower moving traffic.
