On December 24, 2015 at 4:05 a.m., City Police arrested a 29 year old male in relation to a domestic disturbance at a west-end residence. It is alleged that the accused grabbed the victim by the arms and slapped her in the face. As well, it is alleged that he tore her shirt and kicked her in the legs. He was charged with assault and appeared in Bail Court on this day.
On December 24, 2015 at 5:50 a.m., City Police arrested Trent Agawa, 25 years, of McFadden Avenue for being intoxicated in a public place. Officers were called to the area of Gibb St. in regard to a suspicious male. Further investigation revealed that Agawa was on a recognizance of bail and probation order with numerous conditions. Agawa was charged with breach of recognizance and breach of probation and appeared in Bail Court on this day.
During the evening of 23 December 2015, a male was arrested by city police at a downtown residence. A third party reported to the police that the male was at the residence of a female friend despite being on conditions to stay away from her. The male was charged with breaching conditions of his recognizance by attending in Sault Ste. Marie without his surety present, attending the female’s residence, communicating with the female, and consuming alcohol. He will appear in bail court on December 24th.
During the afternoon of 23 December 2015, a 26 year old male was apprehended by store security at a west end grocery store after the male stole a roast valued at approximately $17.00. Police officers attended and during their investigation, discovered that the male had a warrant for his arrest stemming from a previous incident in the east end of the city. It is alleged that on 30 August 2015 in the morning hours, the accused had an altercation with another male that escalated to the point where the victim was run over by a vehicle driven by the accused. The victim sustained serious, but non-life-threatening injuries. The accused is charged with failing to stop at the scene of an accident contrary to the criminal code, and theft under $5000.00. He will be in bail court on Christmas Eve.
