Update To Sexual Assault

The Sault Ste. Marie Police are now identifying the male charged with Sexual Assault as:
Vincenzo Marcantonio, age 20, of 59 Farlane Blvd, Ottawa, On. The accused and the victim did know one another through employment. The assault took place in a housing complex in the north central part of the City.

20 Yr Old Charged With Sexual Assault

Yesterday morning at approx. 5:55 Am City Police arrested a 20 year old male and charged him with Sexual Assault. It is alleged that at approx. 3:00 AM yesterday morning the accused entered the victim’s residence and sexually assaulted the victim. At the time of the assault the victim had been sleeping. The accused will be appearing in Bail Court today at 10:00 AM on a charge of Sexual Assault.

Theft From Kelly's Grocery Store

Yesterday afternoon at approx. 5:30 PM 48-year-old Russell Barton was arrested for Theft Under $ 5,000.00. It is alleged that yesterday afternoon Mr. Barton entered Kelly’s Grocery Store, in the Station Mall, and stole a quantity of meat. The accused was apprehended as he walked out of the store. Russell Barton, age 48, of 413 Albert St. W. Apt. 2 will be appearing in court on Monday Sept 11th at 9:00 AM.

Shoplifters Foiled At Sears

At approx. 1:10 PM yesterday City Police were called to the Sears Store, in the Station Mall, regarding two adult shoplifters. It is alleged that the two accused, Rolly Chaban and Nicole Chaban entered the Sears Store and stole a cologne set. The accused were apprehended by store security as the exited the store. Charged with one count of Theft Under $ 5,000.00 is Nicole Chaban, age 26, of 30 Boston Ave.

It is further alleged that Mr. Chaban did on 16 May 2006 enter the Sears Store and steal approx.
$ 850.00. in merchandise. Mr. Chaban had not been apprehended on the May incident until yesterday. Rolly Chaban, age 35, of 30 Boston Ave is charged with two counts of Theft Under $ 5,000.00. Both accused will be appearing in court on Monday Sept. 11th at 9:00 AM.

BReak & Enters

The Sault Ste Marie Police Service is investigating two reports of Break and Enter in the past 24 hours.

A purse was stolen at a break-in from a residence in the 400 block of Wellington St.W. A possible suspect, described as a white female, in her 20’s, skinny build with bright orange hair was seen leaving the area.

The second break occurred to an apartment in the 100 block of East St. Culprits stole a small amount of change from this residence.

Vehicle Break-Ins

City Police also investigated two reports of vehicles being entered. Cars were entered in the 200 block of Reid St. and the 100 block of St. George’s Ave E.
