A second motor vehicle collision was reported yesterday evening at approximately 9:00 pm, involving again another cyclist. It is believed that an 11-year-old youth was riding a bicycle north bound on the west side, side walk of Pine Street. A 1997 Mercury driven by 80-year-old Joseph Bradley of 1746 Queen Street East was traveling east bound on McNabb Street in the outside lane. Mr. Bradley attempted to make a right hand turn onto Pine Street. The vehicle struck the cyclist who was traveling from the sidewalk onto the roadway. The cyclist did not make any attempt to stop. The cyclist did not have a light on the bicycle and was not wearing a helmet. The cyclist could not be charged as he was under the age of 12-years. The mother of the cyclist has been charged with Permit person under 16 on a bicycle without wearing proper helmet under the Highway Traffic Act of Ontario. The cyclist in this incident did not require medical attention but did suffer minor injuries.

City Police are advising motorist to be aware of cyclist on the streets and sidewalks. Children under the age of 10-years are permitted to travel on the sidewalks. Every person under the age of 16-years is required to wear a proper helmet. There is a $60 fine for not wearing a helmet while riding a bicycle and there is also a $60 fine for the guardian of a child under the age of 16 allowing that child to ride without a helmet. Cyclist like operators of motor vehicles must obey all the Highway Traffic Act laws.

Hit & Run

City Police are investigating a hit and run accident involving an 11-year-old boy. The accident occurred just after 4pm yesterday afternoon on Amber Street, on the sidewalk in front of Parkland Public School. The boy was riding a bicycle in a north bound direction leaving the parking lot when he was struck by a ford pick up truck which was also north bound leaving the school parking lot. The boy received minor injuries, which did not require medical help. City Police are requesting the publics help in identifying the vehicle and driver involved in this incident. Police are looking for a white Ford pick up truck, extended cab with tinted windows and blue writing on the doors, the driver is believed to be male and was possibly alone in the vehicle. This vehicle was last seen leaving the parking lot of Parkland Public School at 54 Amber Street and heading east bound towards Queen Street. City Police are asking the driver of this vehicle to come forward or any witnesses to contact 949-6300.

Death Threat

Yesterday evening at approximately 7:30 pm, City Police responded to a call in the 700 Block of Pine Street. It is alleged that Richard Spadafore kicked the front door in and threatened to kill and stomp on the head of a male known to him after attending at the males residence. The accused then left the area and Police were called. The accused was arrested a short time later at his residence. 43-year-old Richard John Spadafore of 700 Pine Street Apt# 3 has been charged with 1 count of Threatening Death and Bodily Harm and 1 count of Mischief Under $5000. The accused is to appear in court on the 29th of May.

Assault

On the 27th of April a 43-year-old male assaulted his common law girlfriend by hitting her in the back of the head, dragging her around the house by the back of her shirt and hair. City Police responded to a call advising there was a possible domestic dispute. City Police arrested the 43-year-old male and transported him to the station. The accused has been charged with 1 count of Assault and 1 count of Personation as he provided a false name at the time of his arrest. The accused is to appear in bail court today.

Three Arrested For Assault At S.F.Howe Adult Education Centre

City Police arrested three people yesterday afternoon in relation to an assault that took place at S.F.Howe Adult Education Center on Northland Road. It is alleged that the three accused attended at the school and coaxed a male known to them out of class. It is then believed that the four individuals went outside and that three of them assaulted the fourth by punching him repeatedly about his entire body and face. All three are believed to have had a rock in each of their hands while striking the victim. The victim eventually made it back into the school and police were called. All three culprits have been charged with 1 count each of Assault with a Weapon. 19-year-old Joshua James Dauphin of no fixed address has also been charged with 1 count of Conspiracy to commit other indictable offence and is to appear in court on the 29th of May. The other two individuals are 17-years of age and 16-years of age and cannot be named; they are to appear in court on the 30th of May. The victim in this incident did not require medical assistance.
