Breach of Release Document
18-year old John Bennett of 42 Grace Street will appear in bail court this morning after being arrested last evening for breaching release documents. It is alleged that Mr. Bennett failed to notify his change of address as well as failing to report on assigned dates to the police station. Mr. Bennett has been charged with 2 counts of breach of a release document.
Break and Enter
Just after 2 pm yesterday alert neighbours contacted City Police to report 4 youths had broken into a residence in the 500 block of Wellington Street West. Within a short time of arriving at the scene officers had three of the youths in custody, and the fourth was arrested later in the evening. 2 13-year old youths and 2-14 year old youths have each been charged with one count of break and enter with intent. It does not appear that anything was taken. 2 of the youths will appear in court on May 17th and two will appear in court on May 31st.
Drug Bust
Just before 8 pm last night officers from the Joint Forces Drug Unit executed a search warrant at 126 Albert Street West. Officers located approximately 115 grams of marihuana with a street value of $2320, a very small amount of cannabis resin worth approximately $5 and 50 ecstasy tablets with a street value of just over $1,000. In addition to the narcotics officers also seized over $2,000 in money. 3 persons were charged and will all appear in court on June 6th. The following persons were charged with the following offences:
1) 29-year old Dwayne Levar of 126 Albert Street West was charged with 2 counts of possession for the purpose of trafficking in a controlled drug or substance and two counts of possession of a controlled drug or substance.
2) 30-year old Rachel Nolan of 45 Cambridge Place was charged with one count of trafficking in a controlled drug or substance and two counts of possession of a controlled drug or substance.
3) 31-year old Brandon Buetow of 45 Cambridge Place was charged with one count of trafficking in a controlled drug or substance and two counts of possession of a controlled drug or substance.
Motor Vehicle Collision
Yesterday afternoon just after 3:30 pm City Police attended at a 3-car motor vehicle collision in the 100 block of Brock Street. A car driven by 51-year old Peggy Byce of 44 Breton Road was traveling northbound on Brock Street when it was struck by a car backing out of an address on Brock Street being operated by 45-year old Claudino Stefanizzi of 240 Prentice Avenue. The Byce vehicle veered westbound, struck a guard rail and then struck a parked car that was in a parking lot just on the other side of the guard rail. Mrs. Byce was taken by ambulance to the hospital for treatment on non-life threatening injuries. Damage to the vehicles is described as moderate to severe. Mrs. Stefanizzi has been charged under the Highway Traffic Act of Ontario with one count of fail to yield from driveway.
Following to Close Charges Laid
Just after midnight this morning City Police attended at the intersection of Second Line West and Walter Street for another motor vehicle collision with injuries. A motorcycle being operated by 22-year old David Geroux of 1741 Base Line slowed down to turn into an address in 500 block of Second Line West when a car operated by 18-year old Kyle Ebare of 1001 Second Line West struck him from behind. Mr. Geroux was taken by ambulance to the hospital for treatment of non-life threatening injuries. The Ebare vehicle received light damage and the motorcycle is described as demolished. Mr. Ebare has been charged under the Highway Traffic Act of Ontario with one count of follow too closely.
Police Ask for Help
City Police received 2 report of break and enters yesterday. During the daytime morning hours a home in the 100 block of Parkview Court was entered and jewellery was taken. Between the 19th and 20th of April a home in the 100 block of Alworth Place was entered and thieves made of with jewellery and a Dell lap top computer.
