Three face trafficking charges following drug bust at Sault hotel

Officers seized methamphetamine, fentanyl, heroin, cocaine, and weapons including a replica assault rifle and a machete

On May 1, 2020 officers with the Drug Enforcement Unit and Crime Suppression Unit arrested 22-year-old Alyssa Colasacco, 36-year-old Jason Gilbert and 29-year-old Candice Grassie for possession of a controlled substance for the purpose of trafficking.

At 3:09 a.m., officers executed a warrant at a hotel in the 200 block of Great Northern Road. The three accused were located inside a room where the warrant was executed and arrested. The room was searched on the strength of the warrant and officers located a variety of items, including substances believed to be narcotics. The items seized include 5.3 grams of methamphetamine, 0.4 grams of fentanyl, 7.9 grams of heroin, 7.2 grams of cocaine, multiple digital scales, packaging materials, $2,240 in Canadian currency, a flick knife, brass knuckles, a replica assault rifle and a machete. The narcotics seized have an estimated street value of $2,170.

Ms. Colasacco is charged with four counts of possession of a controlled substance for the purpose of trafficking, three counts of possession of a prohibited weapon, possession of property obtained by crime and breach of probation. She is schedule to appear in court on July 20, 2020.

Mr. Gilbert is charged with four counts of possession of a controlled substance for the purpose of trafficking, three counts of possession of a prohibited weapon, possession of property obtained by crime and two counts of breach of recognizance. He was held for bail court.

Ms. Grassie is charged with four counts of possession of a controlled substance for the purpose of trafficking, three counts of possession of a prohibited weapon and possession of property obtained by crime. She is schedule to appear in court on July 20, 2020.
