One person is facing multiple charges after a break-in and an assault.

At around 7 p.m. on Wednesday, September 27, a 911 call came in about a break-and-enter in progress at a residence on La Chaumiere Place.

Sault Ste. Marie Police say the suspects were gone by the time officers arrived, but the victim told them three people armed with knives and a baseball bat forced their way inside.

The victim was able to run out of the home and call police. They weren’t physically injured.

Police arrested two suspects that night.

The victim was able to identify the third suspect and police allege the accused had kicked and stomped on the victim 11 days before the break-in, resulting in serious injuries.

Yesterday, police were told the suspect was in the 400 block of Albert Street East, and that’s where the accused was arrested by police.

Devon Floyd, 35, has been charged with:

  • Break and Enter – Intent to Commit Indictable Offence
  • Assault with Weapon
  • Assault Causing Bodily Harm
  • Possession of Weapon for Dangerous Purpose
  • Failure to Comply with Probation Order x4

He remains in custody pending a bail hearing.

None of the allegations have been tested in court and Floyd is considered innocent unless proven guilty.
