Suspected fentanyl, methamphetamine seized during robbery arrest

Police have charged Patience MacKinnon following an incident of theft that occurred on Churchill Boulevard yesterday.

A news release issued today by the Sault Ste. Marie Police Service alleges that the 22-year-old accused selected items from a business and attempted to leave without making an effort to pay.

It is further alleged that she was in possession of suspected fentanyl and methamphetamine at the time of her arrest.

On July 12, 2021, officers with Patrol Services charged 22-year-old Patience MacKinnon with robbery.

The accused attended a business in the 100 block of Churchill Boulevard where it’s alleged she selected approximately $32 in items and attempted to leave without paying. Store staff attempted to stop the accused from leaving and at this time [it is alleged that] an altercation ensued and the accused struck a store employee.

Police were called and upon arrival the accused was arrested. A search of the accused found her to be in possession of items taken from the business, as well as amounts of substances believed to be fentanyl and methamphetamine.

She is charged with robbery, possession of property obtained by crime under $5,000, two counts of possession of a controlled substance, and breach of probation.

She was released on an undertaking and is scheduled to appear in court on Aug. 30, 2021.
