Suspect in active shooter incident south of Sault, Mich., deceased

An incident in which a police officer was wounded Wednesday ended with the death of one suspect and arrest of a second

A standoff between the U.S. Marshals and two wanted suspects south of Sault Ste. Marie, Mich., ended Wednesday with one suspect deceased, one arrested and one deputy U.S. Marshal injured, according to the U.S. Marshals Service.

The U.S. Marshals Special Operations Group (SOG) was attempting to serve arrest warrants for Lindsey and Giovanni McNab, at a residence in Goetzville, Mich., when Giovanni opened fire on officers and injured one deputy Wednesday morning, police said in a news release.

The deputy remains in stable condition, police said on Thursday.

McNab and his wife, Lindsey, were wanted out of Christian County, Missouri, for abduction and parental kidnapping. After Lindsey had been arrested earlier in the day, Giovanni barricaded himself with two children inside the Goetzville residence, police said.

The standoff ended Wednesday night when SOG members approached the residence and found McNab deceased. It is unknown at this time how McNab died, according to police.

The two abducted minor children were found unharmed and were placed into the custody of child protective services, police said.

The Chippewa County Sheriff's Office, Michigan State Police, and the FBI's Detroit Field Office assisted the U.S. Marshals with the operation. The incident remains under investigation.
