A person is facing several charges after a break-in at a Sault Ste. Marie home.
Sault Police were called to the 500 block of Albert Street West at around noon on Sunday.
They found someone nearby who matched the description of the suspect and arrested them.
Police say when officers searched the suspect, they found a baseball bat, a prohibited knife, 54 pills of suspected MDMA and approximately 21 grams of suspected methamphetamine powder.
The estimated street value of the drugs is more than $2,700.
Investigators believe the accused went into the home of someone known to them without their consent and threatened them verbally and with the baseball bat.
Matthias Profoehr, 21, is charged with:
- Possession of Schedule I Substance for Purpose of Trafficking x2
- Break and Enter – Commit Indictable Offence
- Possession of Prohibited Weapon
- Assault with Weapon
- Possession of Weapon for Dangerous Purpose
- Uttering Threats
The accused is being held in custody pending a bail hearing.
None of the allegations have been tested in court and Profoehr is considered innocent unless proven guilty.
