On July 4, 2015 at 6:50 p.m., City Police responded to a motor vehicle collision on Willow Avenue. Witness information was that a vehicle was northbound on Willow Ave.
On July 4, 2015 at  6:50 p.m., City Police responded to a motor vehicle collision on Willow Avenue. Witness information was that a vehicle was northbound on Willow Ave. at a high rate of speed and crossed over into the southbound lane, went up over the boulevard and then struck a hydro pole. The vehicle then struck two trees and ended up in the parking lot at the Cambrian Mall. The driver of the vehicle fled on foot. The driver is described as being a young male with a crewcut, dressed in black. This same vehicle had been involved in a hit and run at 4:30 p.m. on Wellington Street West in which injuries were sustained by a passenger in the other vehicle. The vehicle has been seized by Police for forensic examination. Anyone having any information on these collisions is encouraged to contact City Police at (705) 949-6300.
 
On July 5, 2015 at approximately 4:35 a.m. city police attended in the area of Southwood Drive and met with a male subject age 22 that allegedly had consumed alcohol. A check of the individual revealed that he was on a recognizance with conditions not to purchase or consume alcohol. The accused Matthew Blair Leask was arrested for breach on recognizance and appeared in weekend and statutory holiday court on July 5, 2015. The accused was remanded to the Algoma Treatment and Remand Center until his bail hearing on July 6, 2015 at 10 a.m.
